I recently completed my Mechanical engineering in the month of May this year. And I got recruited off campus in the same firm where I did my internship at. I joined the internship in January this year and signed the offer letter in April. Initially during the internship I was assigned technical tasks which I delivered. Due to which I got absorbed in the company. Fast forward to November, when I look at what I have done in the past 5-6 months it is simple work of paperwork, maintaining data and matching entries on Excel. The project for which I was recruited, took off during the end of July but it has come to a halt and I don't see whether it will be resumed soon or not. It has only been 6 months so I am wondering whether I should wait for April 2025 to resign or do it now as I feel my precious time is being wasted, that too the early years of my career. I plan to pursue further studies in management related fields, so I am concerned about what I would describe my work experience as when I go for interviews at the university. Even if I seek another job after April 2025, how will I describe my role to the recruiters? I don't have to support anyone at the moment. My family is well settled so that is not an issue. But I feel that this might not be the right place.
