meetings on sunday?

Context: I work at a startup, it's a pretty chill work environment, very flexible, hybrid model. Everything is great. Problem: They take flexible work hours too seriously, I have meetings at 10 PM on weekdays and almost every weekend there's some work which they need the next day in most cases but apparently have to keep the meeting on the weekend with no prior notice. I mean, i like going to office twice a week around 11-12 and coming back around 7, wfh when I have a few meetings that day but is it normal to work on weekends? and after work hours? P.S. I've only been in this company for a month and joined as a fresher. Now that I've put it down, this is such a gen z problem lol But what should I do?

So it’s barely been a month since I’ve joined this company and my manager has already started dumping his workload to me on weekends and at odd hours late in the night. Now he’s not a horrible person but I hate how normalised this culture is at this entire organisation. I get it if I’m a founder or working at a startup, I have to be prepared to hustle but not at a big corporation. And the irony is that I once needed something urgently from someone based in Europe from our team but my manager asked me to call him the next day since that person was out of his working hours while I was on a call with my manager at 1:18am….. I’ve also noticed how casually he calls me everyday post 9pm to ask for updates or give a new task. My work hours end by 6pm. I really want to to establish certain boundaries, and not want to work on weekends. I’m a biker, and I’ve been cancelling all my biking plans on weekends just cause of this. How do I go about this without it negatively affecting my ratings/impressions etc.?? I have a life smh. (Writing this while I’m working on a Sunday)

For context: Weekends are off. So just fri WFH. This is a Series B startup. I am not even asking for a leave but WFH for just 1 day. I joined recently. The only thing I did wrong was possibly informing a little too late. Want to get opinion if I am overthinking or this classifies as toxic culture in startups where you are expected to push limits above and beyond regularly and sometimes weekends. ---

Hi All, I think with funding winter, the work culture in Bangalore Startups is becoming toxic day by day. In my company, it started with filling the daily time sheet of what work we did, then why do we need work from home( Company gives 4wfh/month), then a circular came today that every data filled in timesheet will be minutely checked with card punches, can't be late even for 5 minutes more than 3 times a month. The hypocrisy part is employees are underpaid(5-6 LPA for software developer) and overworked(9+ hrs/day). I got to know one more startup where they have normalised 12hrs/day 6 days a week working and if you work less, it will affect negatively. They force their employees to reside nearby to the office so they can work till 12-2am from 10.30am. Is it common everywhere?

I moved to Bangalore few months back and started working for a manufacturing resource planning SaaS company so I don’t like the work culture over here they have six days work week and sometimes I work overnight also due to this reason I have zero social life and I am pissed off from my work also cannot upscale myself.  Whenever we say that we need Saturdays off the CEO says that after funding is raised the Saturdays will be off it really doesn’t make sense.  also people over here or micromanaging every time asking for every Nick of details. I am annoyed with this shit  If any companies are hiring for remote roles or five day work week companies with the said work life balance I am looking for a change do let me know in the comments. Let me explain, managers or senior folks who reply/slack/email or do any form of communication outside working hours and especially over weekends… I hate it. If u do it without the counter party explicitly expressing such urgency then you are way worse. Just because their current lifestyle or situation allows them to do it… They do it without a second thought. They do not realize that this sets the benchmark or expectations for others who may not be able or like to do same. You might say they’re not coercing others to do it then what’s the harm? Well this little thing is what sets the chain reaction to unhealthy WLB. The stakeholders or their heads get the wrong impression and create unhealthy expectation from others. This is just a rant and if u are such a person… Stop doing it without thinking of its unintended consequences.

Hi am a fresher working in an IT company as SDE intern. Wanted to know if most of the Indian companies follow strict schedule? This is because I have heard people doing 9-5 job. Often they are having meetings after 5pm and sometimes working on even Saturdays. Does this thing holds for Service based companies like Infosys, Wipro, TCS etc or its true for FAANG or famous startups as well?
