My friend who works at Classplus has been asked to resign
Instead of giving out the severance, they’re asking for resignation.
And what’s worst is if you don’t resign they won’t give you experience letter and full and final settlement.
we should name and shame
That sounds totally illegal. They can’t do that.
Only a few companies provide severance in India. Most companies ask the affected employees to resign, and some companies do provide placement assistance. Lay-off culture wasn’t much there before 5 years. It’s more recent. Government will soon come up with norms and laws governing such behaviour hopefully. Till then it’s difficult for affected employee to basically not follow whatever the firm is asking. He/she has to follow whatever is being told to them.
Calling out founders and such practices is must so that industry knows
This is a common practice in India. We need better laws that prohibit such practices
