Need suggestion on car purchase
Hi everyone, I need your suggestions on choosing my first car in Bangalore. I live with my wife, and we are expecting a baby mid-year. As we prepare to expand our family and welcome our little one, owning a car has become a necessity.
Here are some details to help you provide better recommendations:
Budget: ₹7–9 lakh (strictly not exceeding ₹9 lakh) Usage: Primarily for city commuting in Bangalore (office runs and weekend family outings) Driving Style: Prefer a relaxed driving experience, usually around 70–80 km/h Safety: Minimum 4-star NCAP rating and above
Options I’m considering: Tata Punch, Hyundai Exter, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Maruti Baleno, Maruti Fronx, Nissan Magnite
I would really appreciate it if you could share your thoughts, along with the pros and cons of these options. Thank you!

I will start with cons -
- They xostva lot of money. Not just the initial purchase costs. But upkeep will cost you good amount. Dealership will say about how the service cost is minimum. Service cost is not just only expense. From insurance to fuel to cleaning every little thing will add up to a material amount.
- You will think of weekend travel as a good thing. It wil cost more money. And after the initial euphoria fades, you will hate to travel. People who claim to love "traveling" are one who don't travel or they are lying or do it for insta likes.
- Most of the time your car will stay parked. Either at your house or office if you are a salaried employee.
- After 6 months you will regret buying it
Pros -
- Can't think of any.

Thanks for the reply, but as I said, I have been avoiding owning a vehicle for last 3 years. But now with 5 days working from office, family expanding, expecting parents to come mid year , it has become inevitable.

Tata Punch and Honda Amaze and Mahindra XUV 3XO Entry level or Tata Tiago/Tigor

Almost inclined towards Tata Punch Adventure. Slightly ambiguous about weather to go for Automatic or Manual transmission.

- Cars depreciate a lot in value very fast. So if you are able to find a second hand car that has not clocked too many km and is only 2-3 years old, you will get a great deal
- There are ways to check the service history of second hand cars to verify the condition
- Hyundai engines are great
- If going for automatic, go for the better quality like dct. Tata automatic gear transition is jerky and not great. I forget the transmission technology name for Tata

Just buy electric. Nitin gadkari is gonna add etanol to petrol which will reduce mileage and engine life cycle.
As far as I am aware, E20 shouldn't cause any immediate issues of any kind in the vast majority of modern gas engines.
The only issue would be long term fuel system damage due to seals and parts being made of incompatible rubbers/plastics
All newer cars are E20 compliant, toyota has been E20 complaint since 2010 or so 🤷♀️

For best prices check in Acko App

Btw, Hyundai, Maruti, Nissan arent 4 star rated, there is Dzire 2024 which came with 4 star rating but it isnt looks trustworthy @UnwieldyBeak
