I am about to join the Nielsen Bangalore office in 2 weeks from now. Can someone please help me with information about the:

  1. Work culture
  2. Layoffs scene
  3. How late does it get at night in 3-11pm mentioned shift?
  4. Do employees actually come to office 2days a week or is it remote?
  5. Joining bonus
  6. Laptop provided - Mac or windows?

  1. Work culture totally depends on your team lead/manager. Overall it is better than what I've seen in the last 20 years in my working experience. People are helpful, professional.
  2. They laid off ~1000 people and are hiring those heads in India and Mexico. It is out in the news. There have been several layoffs starting 2020.
  3. The work timing tells me you are mostly replacing someone in the US, probably east coast. Make sure you have a proper handover documentation. Associates who are impacted are being told to train their replacements, so you know what to expect.
  4. For now it is liberal hybrid. I'm hearing January onwards it is 3 days a week in office.
  5. ask for one, if you haven't been offered yet.
  6. Windows, unless your work requires a laptop. You can ask your manager to hook you up with a laptop of your preference "to be more productive"

My friend used to work there, who recently left and joined here
Here is current status ( in his own words) Most of the US folks left except few ( manages and few tech persons ), but they are also under light and can be replaced anytime. Your manager if he is from US then no worries , upper management ( one level above manager) is all indian till CEO and they make your work life balance worst. Lot of micro management, unnecessary calls, work from office mandates, need pre-approval of sick leaves ( you can't apply sick leave late in evening, you should know it prior that you will be sick later day), late night calls, 24/7 on-call support makes your life hell.

  1. Your timings suggest that you could also be replacing someone in Europe.
