They think it is a zero-sum game. Thankfully, I don't have these idiots in my circle.

Lol I sometimes feel like the ones that get into these so called Tier 1 colleges end up thinking they’re holier than thou and the rest of us owe them something

Tbh when I used to hire or watch my dad hire people in our company I’ve realised the ones that have a better work ethic and technical knowledge are more often not from these so called Tier 1 unis but from your Tier 2 or even lower.

All that matters is the skill you bring to the org and how you can add value to it. The rest are all secondary.

@RichDadsPoorSon IMO, one's academic background shouldn't matter so much for dev roles. I have worked with some exceptionally talented folks in my current org. Some of them don't have a CS degree or a college degree at all. We don't ask about your education when hiring; only experience & skills matter.

I gave an interview few days back, and the interviewer proudly said she's from IIT-D while giving her intro. Most IIT/NIT/IIIT folks have these on LinkedIn intro line as well.
I understand you went to the best college in India but there's more to life than that.

For some people - that is their biggest achievement. Nothing that comes after matters to them. People also sit on their high horses during bad situations and think “Main IIT Hu to mera ho jaega”. It’s just a ridiculous culture we have created in India. I also blame other brainwashed idiots who didn’t get into IIT and who worship these IIT guys. That has boosted their ego and put them in reality distortion fields.

One of the reason I prefer employers overseas. It’s about meritocracy not college brand.
