lol, don't be fooled by comments.. yes, the actual salary should have been 13+, but since you have such low salary to begin you can't ask for such a high salary.. max you can ask for 40% hike or go n study MBA to remove your previous salary barrier then you can ask for 24CTC
That ain't true. This is a myth. Not all companies think like this of offering new pay based on previous.
As long as you have skills that they need, you should always and always ask based on what is the market rate for those skills
+1 for this most companies do have bands for sde1 sde2 . If op gets selected for sde2 then he might be offered lower base pay of sde2.
Minimum 20lpa fixed, based on company to company vary it b/w 20 to 30
If you're joining another company:
Product based - ask for base salary of 25 lpa or more. 25lpa + RSUs or ESOPs. They will give because I feel your current salary is lower.
Service based - Ask for 100% hike from your current salary.
These comments are delusional nobody will give you 20lpa except reputed companies and funded startups. And for rest companies you should mention 10lpa atleast. Trust me they'll lowball you even down. Get multiple simultaneous offers then you control negotiations else stick with company caliber else be assured 10lpa is solid base.
Source : i was in same boat in november 2023.
And why can’t OP go to one of those companies which will pay him 20? Fwiw at L4 swe level you can also get 50, that’s mid band for most of big tech L4.
At least 17 lpa( based on the current salary of my friend who has the same experience as you
