Share your toxic boss experience

I had a boss who asked a colleague on their notice period to report to work when they were actually sick. 100+ fever on consecutive days. He took him to a client meeting, where he fainted and had to be taken to the hospital. The boss said - "Uski kismat hi kharab hai."

Bruh. That is effed up. My most toxic boss was this new VP my startup had hired. Initially it was really cool - they were Top IIT, IIM, MBB and all of that jazz, I was fairly junior and excited to work with someone with these creds.

Few months forward - as they struggled to meet revenue targets etc. they started encouraging some really fucked up people in the sales team to go all out and sell at all cost; this eventually led to poor quality revenue and fake sales too.

A few months forward - I hear they've had POSH complaints against them and no action was ever taken

Overall, it taught me so much about not respecting someone just because of their creds, and that a lot of these people are really hollow inside.

That is effed up.
I swear I don't understand how people like this climb up the ladder.

It's very common for these folks to misuse power, condescend, and invoke their boss passes all the freaking time.

This same boss used to mentally harass people. People went to therapy. People complained to the HR too, nothing substantial happened. He was given leader of the year award.

My first manager harassed me mentally. He used to like me and he used to torture all guys in my department if anyone spoke to me well. Inspite of him knowing I had a boyfriend , he used to always approach me in a bad way. And once and for all, I moved away from that place, blocking him.

Another instance was when a manager scolded me left right centre for no fault of mine. And called me at 10pm and says I am sorry, I had a fight with my boyfriend , so I scolded you in the anger. I was like wtf 😳

Another manager said I will put you in pip because there is no one else in team whom I can put in pip right now . You had once argued with me so I will put you in pip .

I am glad I have resigned all these companies and took a break for a while and joined a start up with a decent manager hopefully 🤞🏻

I'm so sorry, you had to go through this.
This sounds so scary.

I had a manager during the first month of my career - extremely toxic.
Jealous of her subordinates performing well, pitting all of us against each other, and threatening us by saying they knew people in the industry.
Once a project went downhill, she tried to put all the blame on us and attempted to put us on PIP to cover up her faults. However, later, she was herself put in one after few months. Talk about Karma biting her back

Had a similar case. They were sacked by the company a few months later.

We had a manager who used to call us up at any time of the day or week. There was once a case where we had a presentation and one of us called in unavailable because his son was sick, she called him up and said he needs to join and why didnt he inform about this yesterday, how can someone do that beforehand. There were people who used to take their paid time off and she used to tell them how they did not plan their leaves just because there was work. But there will always be work in a start and there will never be a good time to take sometime off. She also pitted people against each other which failed because she was fairly new whereas all of us already were working there for years. She would make personal remarks about people.

Finally people complained about her and she was asked to leave.

Honestly, this is so sad.
I hope she gets better.
