Startup Vs MNC's In Terms of Learning.

Hi there, as i am a fresher and currently doing my PM internship with a startup, so for full time should I look for MNC's or stick to here only.

Because here i think we can learn too many things as i am learning.

But in terms of problem solving i think MNC'S are great because there we will solve one bigger problem. And here we solve too many small problems.

What's your take on that?

Unfortunately you won’t solve a bigger problem in an MNC, you will be part of a much larger team where you will contribute to some level of problem solving. There are two issues with this:

  1. Not enough autonomy for you, so you won’t have enough ownership.
  2. The time taken to solve a problem at an MNC is higher since there are more processes in place, and the problem in it itself might be bigger too.

If you are looking for stability, and maybe the chance to get some experienced mentor go for the MNC. If you want to genuinely solve a problem and learn in a shorter period of time, stick to a start up.

Just one advice, try to go for a start up with some experienced PMs.

Thank you for this, But the thing is where i am working there are only 2 people in the Product Team, one is the CEO and Me, and usually he is busy with some other work. So i didn't get too much time to learn from him, i have to learn by myself. Now i will try for some unicorn or mid level startups where i can get some Mentor PM as well.

And i have one other doubt, then if learning in the startup is so good then why does every startup be started by an MNC person? I have not heard ki anyone who was in the Start-ups earlier is doing his own start-up.

Well generally I think people with experience in MNCs have the opportunity to identity problems specific to their industries and then build start ups around it.

Also, by no means am I telling you that you will not learn anything in a MNC. I just believe the speed at which you learn at a start up is greater because honestly you HAVE to.
