This is a rampant problem in Bengaluru.

Auto drivers act like gundas(barring a few). The police and administration does nothing. I have seen so many autos coming from the wrong side in peak traffic and the police doing nothing at all.

They quote really high prices because of which customers look out for other options. Firstly, the govt should strictly focus on the pricing of auto rickshaws and police should make sure they follow it. The govt should also make a stern decision on movement of bike taxis.
I am really looking forward for more metro lines to open up, which will reduce dependency on autos by commuters.
I never wanted to buy a car, but because of the bullying of autos and cab cancellations, and with the limited public transaport availability, I bought a car to save myself from this hassle.
As an alternative solution, I would request folks to utilise car pooling. I have been doing this since the past 3 years, and have been able to save my daily travel cost.
