I am currently working in this format . Although it is good money , no PF or health insurance is the only downside I see . You need to have some kind of regimen set otherwise there can be a lot of distractions working from home . I have setup my space where I work from . Initially had not done this but saw that it affected my productivity. Gives lot of flexibility in terms of personal life . Sometimes you get pinged in the evening outside your working hours which can be frustrating. Also there is possiblity to become complacent in terms of career as you are close to family and not that much in touch with colleagues. If someone has left you would never know . If you don’t have family to support you it can become lonely especially for bachelors. If you remote work environment is not good , it can be worse than working from office . I have heard a few horror stories as well .

Thanks! Agree with the PF and health insurance part. As for the work environment, I think luck also plays a major role irrespective of where you work.

Got this opportunity to work in a early stage startup. But I had to leave it within months as I didn't see it fit in my career goals or the growth i expected. Pros : Good salary Chill culture

Cons : No structure. No defined growth. You have to do everything. More like a generalist. So I felt the opportunity cost was high as I might not be able to crack companies back in India once I quit there. No connect with people. Night shift didn't work for me. I wasn't ready for strategic discussions when I'm ready to hit bed.

No social interactions or bond with your colleagues/team.

No chai/sutta breaks, no gossips, no random fun. And without it, after a point, work feels like just work. And it’s not a nice feeling at all.
