🕵‍♀️Web3 and COVID killed Hackathon Culture

Remember when I was in college, we had a really great hackathon culture, being conducted offline in Bangalore. AngelHack, Amazon Sambhav, FutureSkills by Nasscom, Ideathon.

After COVID hit and Web3 became a buzzword, all I see is web3 hackathons where folks just copy a pre-written smart contract from GitHub and it doesn't even work. Most of these are online where you don't even get to see what others have built. I have seen someone winning 3rd prize by showing Figma prototype 🤦‍♀️. Same goes for meetups as well.

Really miss the days where we had no clue on Friday what we're going to build and coming home with $500 in prize on Monday mornings.

If you're aware of any good hackathons happening this year, please let me know.

I've made 32lakhs post TDS just from hackathons in COVID.

Pre COVID ihad only made 8lakhs lifetime from hackathons (gojek, kalaari, etc)

Namely - Amazon Sambhav, Rapyd, Ondc, Bank of baroda, Microsoft and few other web3 startups who don't exists anymore 😂

Platforms - Devpost, dare2compete, skillenza, devfolio.

COVID has been a blessing for me.

It's easier to fake web3 and ai products in online rather than in person hackathons.

I've literally won 3 hackathons just by showing chatbots, my friend was on the other side pretending to be a bot, replying smartly to my messages 😂
