for the uninitiated, Spanish or any unknown language will sound gibberish. The operator would have assumed it either a pocket dial, or drunk prank.

Anything related to south, the media will make it sound bad. If one of the BIMARU states was in south, this language issue would have never come up. all i see is pure jealousy.

Whether it’s a pocket dial or a language barrier, emergency responders should never hang up on callers. Someone’s life could be at risk.

This is atrocious - an emergency number operator hung up because he prefers only a regional language? This person needs to be immediately removed, and sensitivity training and evaluation needs to be conducted for all the operators, so that only the persons fit for this type of role are allowed to work there.

In US, if you even accidentally dial 911 and it rings, but you don't even say anything, they will often send a police car to check on you, because someone might have an emergency and they are not in a state to be able to speak.

This incident reflects the unacceptable state of emergency services and linguistic prejudices in India.

Brutal - but he’s not lying, India sucks for travellers

Overpriced hotels, just straight up bad infra - honestly a vacation to Vietnam/Thailand is not very expensive compared to a good vacation to Goa now
