What is the best way to go about finding a low budget PG accommodation?

I have stayed in BTM Layout 1st Stage in one pg from mid-2017 to March 2020 . I was paying 8000 for a room with an attached bathroom.

I am a software engineer with 2 years of experience and have been jobless since Dec 2022. I have decided that I can no longer stay at home and want to move to a city where I can network, upskill and hopefully find a job in the coming months.

I will be really grateful if anyone reading this could suggest me how do I go about finding a good pg accommodation for 10-11K monthly rent. I prefer to stay single and have an attached bathroom.

What could be some areas where I can find accommodation for cheap and within my pre-conceived budget? I have very limited savings from my last job and want to utilise it judiciously before finding my next job. I will really appreciate your assistance 🙏

I am thinking of booking an Airbnb for 2-3 days and then start looking. But Bangalore is huge and not all areas are appropriate to stay especially for job-seekers who might be required to travel.

Thanks for reading and have a nice day!

BTM generally would cost you around 13-14k these days with 40-50k deposit. If you’re able to extend your airbnb stay and look more, you’ll get decent ones for 10-11k. Thats how I got mine

Thank you so much for your comment 🙏
I love the BTM area because of how central it is to all the major places and because of the cheap places to have meals or food.

Paying 14k as rent, month after month would be very expensive (especially while being jobless otherwise I wouldn't mind at all). As you rightly suggested, I will try extending my Airbnb stay to look for a suitable one until I find one in my budget.

Did you explore the places by walking or rented a two wheeler? Also did you take the help of any broker?

Agreed! The place is easily accessible. But, Nah. I had a friend staying there for a while, We would go out on evenings after work for 1-2 hours (walking+his bike).

But I think you could also get a 2 sharing co-live premium pgs around 12-14k with food. And good thing is that, most of the premium/co-live pg’s are vacant. If lucky, you’d be the only one in 2-sharing room :P

You can share the 1bhk with someone you try inviting people or your friends to share. If you want to be alone within that budget. Try Marathhalli PG area good luck

I really appreciate your response! That would be an option as well.

Can I know what could be the expected rent and deposit be for 1 BHK?

I will explore Marathahalli well to find accommodation
