Why do people want to retire early in 30s?

Recently, since last few years retire early has been a talk of the town. But I never understood the reason behind it. I mean, what are you going to do for the rest of your life. Isn't sitting on a couch or a beach and doing stuff which will not reciprocate in anyone's life too boring?

If they are passionate about something and working for it then how is it retiring? At least I won't consider it as retiring if you're still working good for something.

Retirement is not like just sitting and staring at the wall. Its freedom. Want to write? Can do. Try photography? Can do. Feel like visiting Harry Potter sets in England, can do. Without any constraints.

I think you misunderstood the concept of FIRE. By retiring early it doesn't mean you stop working, it means you stop working for money. So it can mean that you go back to your hometown and do something there or start something of your own. But for that you have to invest and save the money so you can live off that for the rest of your life.

This concept of retiring early is due to fast lifestyle change. Back in the days, people used to have multiple kids and a big family. Hence, retiring early was never a luxury. Now a days, mostly people living in tier 1 cities have max 2 kids and both husband and wife earn. This leads to better financial planning which can give the luxury of retiring early post kids complete their education. Also, the thought that one also has to live for oneself (contrary to what earlier generation used to think that one has to live for family) leads to this concept. In retirement days, one can travel, explore the world & do what they always wanted to do. So technically, fast paced world along with economic changes has led to this.
