What is the darkest truth that most engineers don't talk about?
For me it is that sometimes I quote 2x the time it will take for me to code something because I want to test it better and ensure that I don't push code with bugs that affects prod deployment with downtime or unintended behaviour. I can do it faster but I know that PMs don't respect developer time and will ask me to build stuff because they want to get promoted for real.
The fact that the person who broke prod and then fixed the production issue at 2 AM is praised more than the person who pushed clean code to prod and didn’t break it at all
That the entire Indian IT industry is about Technical people making Business people fools because Business people have the means and access to capital.
I probably think you don’t have any It experience. Questioning the entire Indian IT industry 😅.
This way you are saying that, tech professionals are smarter than business professionals or someone into businesses - ugh no way

Irrespective of what the salary is, a frontend engineer does the same work if his salary is 5LPA or 50LPA.
You’re never rewarded for work done in silence. You’ve to be public and vocal about the work done. The loudest voice most likely takes all the reward unless you have a really good manager. :)
We r just machines who need to constantly provide output. Once we fail doing this, will be replaced by other new machines
That life in Indian IT can be very sad for a few days/weeks of the year. Where all you're doing is eat sleep code repeat for 12-14 hrs

Can you tell me how you find or estimate the value of x i.e the time to be taken to complete the task?
That some of us really want to just work hard and spend life tension free, however due to unnecessary politics, this is not possible. Then we have paltu kutte as managers who will not let anyone in his team to be in limelight else upper management will know that this person is literally contributing nothing.
There’s no relation between the marks you get in college, knowledge you have and your CTC.
Every tom, dick and harry can earn huge amount of money if only that person prepares for interviews well. Onsite is the dream in IT and there also companies select under performers not sure why ! Luck plays an important role as well.
What's dark about this? And why would you even want to bring attention to this.
