Your Manager has asked you to come office on-time.

There is this new PM who is making my life living hell. Sets up his own timeline without consulting me how much effort it will take me to execute. The requirements are fuzzy and changes while executing. I am having to delete a ton of my code because they can't keep the requirements frozen. The problem is that, I am being pulled into meetings all day and I am having to code at night just to keep up with my tasks. My life has become work and I have no time for my self-care. Haven't gone home in 6 months now. I don't know what to do now. Save me. Please. I beg of you. What should I do?

As the title suggests, does it make sense to talk about a colleagues’s inability to deliver to my manager. The colleague’s incompetence to take ownership is very evident now to everyone and the manager is not taking any steps on it. Others have to basically cleanup and babysit him. Worse part, this colleague gets paid the highest in the team. At this point it’s just breeding resentment across the team. How to handle this situation? Any tips. I want to start moonlighting. In my current role I am a lead full stack dev managing 4 people and coding. In the role I am exploring there too the same thing. I am also in a degree course in ml which is demanding. I want any advice which you have. How to manage time/people better. How should I approach this whole thing. What should I looo out for?

I recently started a new job. I would like to share some of the experiences I have had with my manager. I am wondering if these are red flags or if I am maybe being paranoid or thinking too much. It was quite difficult for me to get into this company and this job. The company is quite great and I was quite excited but some of the experiences I have had with my immediate manager have made me a bit apprehensive. I would like to share them and hear opinions about it. Here are some things which have happened which I have not liked so far - 1. I speak to a Senior Engineer one day and next day my manager asks me if anyone asked me to speak to him. 2. I shared an insight about a new tool which we can use on a deployment pipeline on the overall pod (under my skip manager). My manager immediately called me and started asking my status update and replied 'Discussing 1-1' in the group to prevent anyone getting visibility of the idea. 3. My manager pings me whenever I go offline and recently he asked me in a passive aggressive way, 'Please monitor your Teams status. It was away for most of today.' I now feel kind of paranoid to never get up as I feel my Teams status is being monitored.

I see a lot of posts about WLB, I want to know what do you consider as a decent WLB. I will go first. 1. Leave early if the work for that day is done 2. No pings and calls post work hours, there are always exceptions and thats okay, should not become a norm 3. Respecting when someone is in vacation and not disturbing them. 4. Not rejecting leaves I will add more in comments If more comes to my mind.

In my corporate experience, I have observed two kinds of leaders - 1) A hard task master, very high on IQ but more often than not low on EQ and 2) High on EQ, above avg on IQ. I as a manager/ leader fall under 2) and usually get work done without authority but I do experience at times, some peers and reportees taking advantage of my behaviour In my view, anecdotally I see type 1) leaders succeed more in corporates even if it comes at the cost of facing flak/hate from directs/indirects. One of my previous managers was unpopular for his toxicity but somehow I kind of built a decent bond with him. Once over drinks and dinner, he candidly told me, I'm not here in this organization for making friends and I'm here only to get results and he did deliver on results every year. My question is, can type 2 leaders even climb up the ladder specially where cut throat competition exists. Sometimes I do feel I need to be more like type 1 leaders obviously not at the cost of toxicity - disrespect, shouting etc. What are your thoughts?

I have a senior in my team who considers herself a manager, when she's not. She's just my senior. She will ping me 100 times in a day and delegate me more tasks before even before the first one is complete. She knows nothing about how work is done as she keeps delegating it to others. If I don't respond she keeps calling and she calls me in the middle of the night too. I have a really cool manager who doesn't ping me daily, will only ask for the deliverables on the deadline. I would have ignored my senior as she's not really the manager but she is the manager's pet. I have seen her delegate tasks to her seniors as well. It's been only a month since I have joined. Any advice on how do I deal with this? It's getting really frustrating.
