Is Flipkart and Walmart same, because Walmart was at a hiring spree in the last 2 years
Thankfully, I stood my ground on hiring only when the project is finalized and not lowering my bar. Out of 30 openings I was tasked to hire, I could only hire 5. The projects got postponed and I saved 25 jobs. A little of economics knowledge goes a long way.

Flipkart would be 15000 employees? So this might be as much as 1100 people 😕

When a deep pocket like Walmart is backing Flipkart what is the need to cut down workforce?
Doesn't mean they shouldn't cut. They'll do it every opportunity they can optimise!
Had heard of Flipkart planning something. Their busiest quarter is the Diwali/Christmas period, and I imagine post that is a ripe time for them to plan this…
It is performance based Pip
Amazon does this every year for 6%
Not a mass layoff per se
First big company planning it this year?
I wonder how this stuff even gets leaked.
In the article it mentions that this perf. based layoff has been happening since past 2 years. They will surely trim a lot until IPO

@FunnyBones when are they going for IPO though? has the approv dates been confirmed?
No but it doesn’t seem like they can continue without it. So it’s inevitable.
These are performance based layoffs they are doing this from past 2 years , moreover they want to close 1B$ financing deal from Walmart
At one side they are launching "Big Bachat Dhamaal" sale and on other side they are doing bachat by sacking people.
Hina hi tha. Kaun use karta hai flipkart. Sirf VCs and Walmart out of arranged marriage.
Rather, when have you last used flipkart
When did GMV start becoming any sort of metric. Even small platforms in India can achieve that by rapidly listing products and skus
Who even uses flipkart. Honestly, when was the last time you used flipkart. All this chatter is because people earn money as employees and it is much sought after. Don't know who uses. Same was the case with yes bank and many others. They are always in the limelight but nobody uses them

Lol. I rarely use Amazon. It has slightly better collection but have never had a single bad experience with Flipkart.
Flipkart as a whole has higher market share. It's market place still lags behind Amazon but as a complete entity it dwarfs Amazon and that's how the IPO will be played.
