What is the craziest office rumor you've heard that turned out to be true?

I seriously would like to know how to go about asking someone you like in an office setup? Without it becoming awkward later on if handed with rejection.
Also making sure that the person being asked out does not feel creeped out.

Ever wondered how many love stories orgs have killed? Right at the start, in the middle, intentionally adding to the cold start or making the friction more pronounced. Think about it: corporate policies, unwritten rules, and so to say "culture" might have ended more love stories (and still is) than we care to acknowledge.

Imagine two colleagues who hit it off -only to be told that their relationship violates some archaic HR policy. Or worse, they keep it hidden, living in constant fear of discovery. Why? Because the org demands a separation of personal and professional lives that’s unnatural and really there's no switch to human connection. How do it fucking turn it off?

I mean you spend more than half your day at the work place right? falling for someone out there - Happens. Then, wouldn't it get to you that you have to say something but cant say, have to wait, but cant wait, and the distractions and more. I have seen most sides I guess - exceptional performers getting together, one high one low getting along - good outcomes, I have seen public spats too - really ugly ones. I have seen folks in depression. I have seen the founders being shaky with the gossip and more..

So you got to ask:
- Does this really add to morale? who really wins here?
- Does it take you away from your goal?
- Why are folks so divided on this topic?
- Is it about control or culture or someones belief system coming in the way?
- What’s the real impact on employee retention?
- Do we really trust our employees enough?
- Can we redefine professionalism?
and What if we embraced love stories? 

Moral policing is not the answer. Neither is we dont know what they would do next - no one in the right mind is so horny that they bang right on the office floor (at least I would like to believe that) ... So.. is our insecurities too high, our principles too shaky, or we just like to be really really convenient.

A very senior manager who barely drinks, got too pumped up during our offsite. Started ordering shots for everyone, one after the other. We had never seen him dance, and somehow, he was the person who danced the most that night.

Eventually, he started openly cursing at a partner (in a playful way, but could easily be non playful), and somebody recorded this. 
I think the video circulated, and it's been weird for him since.

How to deal with an office buly who tries to take credit of my work, tried undermine me in front of manager. She never mentions if I had done the job but she exaggerates in case I fall behind, I mean I noticed this 4-5 times now. I am at this startup and I have no idea why is behaving like that with me only....she works from home so I don't even get to interact with her or to know why exactly she tries belittle me in front our manager.....

M,35 with 10 years of IT B2B marketing work ex. Got laid off this month because of petty office politics.

So joined this company in Jan 23. All was going well until the person who hired me left the org and a new external person took the charge. She wanted senior level(20+ years) folks into marketing leadership team and decided to revamp the team. Got a couple of people from her earlier org for senior leadership roles. 
Also, a Salesperson who was a long timer at the current organisation and who was in my role 3 years back, decided to move back to marketing team as his Sales role was in danger. 
This led to the domino effect leading to my role getting redundant as my boss preferred the sales cum marketing person with 20 years workex. As a result - i got laid off!
Mind you there was no issue with performance as i got an increment mid year because of excellent performance which is also mentioned in the role redundancy letter. 
Searching for Tech marketing role in the areas of Product marketing, demand generation preferably in Pune or remote roles. 
Appreciate any help in this regard. Thanks.

I graduated this year and have been working as an intern in this company for a few months, full time now. And at first, everything seemed okay. People were okay to talk to, the managers were polite, etc. But as I've gotten to know them better.....all I see is the silent drama that goes on about the most petty things. My 35-ish manager has the ego of a 15 year old teenager and thinks he's hiding it well by talking 'nicely'. There's this whole unsaid division in the team where one side is the suck-ups and they're all best friends with each other and have this "us and them" thing going and no points for guessing, the manager loves them. They'll literally share every little thing with the guy, basically snitching on the rest of the people. And the other people are just at odds with the manager and his gang for whatever reason. The other day, the manager passed a comment about 'masturbation' on some other guy. This kinda thing really makes me not want to work here.

Apologies if this feels unstructured, I'm tired after a 10-hour work day.
