Anyone else experiencing memory loss?
These past 6 months my performance at work has been dwindling and one primary reason I attribute is memory loss. I find it difficult to recall key points of mails, design reviews, MoMs etc. and often end up missing out things at assigned tasks. What's scarier is that it not only applies to new concepts, I often find myself forgetting even formerly familiar things. During morning updates and discussions I find myself giving uncertain inputs and asking shaky questions because I find it hard to remember key terms, figures etc. I sometimes even forget to pick up some assigned tasks altogether. Random brain freezes have become everyday affair. . Sleep-wise it has been little medium-poor but not so bad that could explain such drastic changes. I'm 30 yr old, male, unmarried and don't have any major health issues (except some stress / anxiety and accompanying Irritable Bowel Syndrome condition). . If anyone else experienced this, how have you dealt with it?

This^ plus covid induced brain fog and long covid effects in many people as well.
Some had body pain, some had brain fog and memory loss, some had irritable stomachs, some had lung or heart damage. Different symptoms across the board.
So many people are unknowingly handicapped yet trudging on the best they can. But many are also struggling.

I don’t know if it’s some kind of coping mechanism
The only solution is to write stuff or journal not just personal but work stuff too.
I used to have Jira but now I have a piece of notebook with me too giving me the top priority tasks.
Consult a doc before u take any supplements. But, usually Vitamin B12 supplement and a tablet called "Nattokinase" will u come over this brain fog... Hope this helps u, buddy.

Used to face this a lot. Got in the rabbit hole of personal productivity. Key learning has been that you need offload as much info as possible in todo (if it’s a thing to be done)/notes (for references or anything other than a todo) apps.
Try apps that have quick capture functionality and works across platforms. This way you don’t have an excuse for not using the he app.
Setup an inbox system for everything and review inbox everyday. This was a game changer for me. Helps me stay on top of everything in my personal as well as work life.
You can read up a bit more on key concepts of GTD/Para method. There is no one fit all, but it’s a great place to get started.

Same I’m just 24 ffs I forget names of people, especially movie stars who I used to recognise just by looking at them. My memory is actually fried. Scared for long term😭
Start using the TODO app, or reminder app, or may be just excel sheet having tasks for every day.
Yes even I am experiencing it,but the way I am handling is writing everything somewhere regarding the mails I need to reply,what I need to work today,etc. so accordingly you can plan for the day.
I feel so as well.
I think it's a mix of social media and alcohol.
They both lead to time just zapping out.

Me I am experiencing this since last year .
Build a second brain is a book I want to recommend. The key idea is to use your brain for information processing and building a second brain (a journal basically) to store all the information.
Do you also have any other symptoms like, feeling anxious about certain work and / or procrastinate on certain "kinds" of projects/task while work fine with certain tasks ?

I've always suffered with work anxiety (7+ years now). Pretty much everything you've mentioned here checks out
My 2 cents.
1. Get health checkup done. Any home sample collection like Thyrocare is ok. For most people vitamin deficiency will be most likely cause of any symptoms.
2. Start taking omega-3 supplements. If you are vegetarian or don’t eat fish, this might help in feeling energetic.

When you don’t remember things, how do you feel? Is it feeling foggy or lethargic.
If lethargic , coffee might help.
@JustAnotherGuy last CBC blood test done in Sep 2023 revealed everything was normal. Yes i do feel lethargic but coffee doesn't help me
Check if you had vitamin tests done or not. Usual culprits like B12, D3 etc. In any case you can start taking omega-3 supplements and D3 supplements unless you are against supplements .
First of all, don’t burden yourself with the thought that you’re exception. This happens with most of us. Even while writing this message I got know that I forgot to bring the vegetables my wife asked me to bring and even I left my scooty keys in scooty. Overthinking will result in health problems and the more you think of it, will worsen your situation. Its ok if you forget just get your basic health check done and start by small changes in your routine like messaging to self about tasks to be completed with timeline. And go through your messages. For long teams/zoom meetings I use my phone recording for personal reference as it helps in not missing out on any important pointers. Bas bhai rest is all ok… chill maar.. zyada load lene se load badhta hai, kam nahi hoga.

Hi no, my BMI is 22 (normal) although I'm still carrying belly fat from Covid lockdown, which I think could be partially responsible for lower back pain
Belly fat is a sign of deep visceral fat and thus sarcopenia and blood flow issues. You are mostly pre diabetic as well if you have deep belly fat not to mention weak poor erections if not full blown erectile dysfunction.
Get an abdominal mri. If it’s all white you need to make a change very fast.
Get your Vitamin D and Vitamin B12 levels tested. The symptoms are highly likely to be one of the deficiencies

It's been more than six months since then. Good enough for Vitamin D to go down. IMO you should go for a medical consultation.
Let me share my exp:
Working on one of the complex project. Aslo fgts lot of things. Sometimes si end up asking basic questions bec of that .
After deep analysis and discussions, I found that everyone goes through it .it's all about finding ways to be better on remembering .
Anxiety takes over as you cross 30 yrs and at time you have lot of things occupying your brain.
Suggestion : workout 1 hr atleast. Deep study on something which ur compassionate about and very few ppl have mastered it ( somethings relate dto your work ). Try eating and sleeping well
Bro Amazon is very bad for health. The constant toxicity is very high. I would suggest you to leave and go to another company with better work life balance and focus more on your health (I left Amazon).
Getting a lot of sleep is very important.
I would also suggest things like meditation.
Use sticky notes on your desk.
What you think is Memory loss or recall issue is attention deficit issue. Keep a point on your desk at a hand's distance and for 10 minutes stare at it without blinking to fix your attention problem.
