It's profit roce etc has been negative consistently still the stock price has been increasing throughout the last year.
Have recently started fundamental analysis of stocks and so just Trying to make some sense of it.
Can anyone explain in such a scenario what other factors should we look into ??
I see there's about 50%+ holdings in it by FII. What do they look for before investing heavily in such a company ??

I have saved up close to a lac from my Internships, will be starting FT soon. I was thinking of YOLOing my entire savings by buying Zomato shares.

I really believe the company will grow multifolds in the future, also I won’t have qualms if they don’t do well and I end up losing my money.

I feel it’s better to take a bet on this as the money isn’t really significant and is better used if Invested somewhere. I might just end up wasting it buying AJ1s, Airpods and all that expensive stuff.

What do you guys think about this? What’s your view on Zomato’s future?

PS- No Index funds, MF advices pls. I’ve done enough research and will Invest once I start getting monthly salary from my FT Job.

Most of my friends use swiggy for everything like food, groceries and dine out.

They say Zomato sucks in ui ux and 3rd grade restaurants are there at Zomato, swiggy is better at offers and quality restaurants.

Zomato peak stock value was 180inr, which makes it a 15B firm, by that logic swiggy can get even 20B ipo.

PS - Baron capital already raised swiggy valuation to 13.9B usd

- Zomato's shares worth Rs 5,438.50 crore were sold in a block deal on August 20, with Antfin Singapore Holding likely being the seller.
- The transaction involved 21 crore shares, representing a 2.4 percent stake, sold at a floor price of Rs 258 apiece, a nearly 2 percent discount over the previous closing price.
- Following the deal, Zomato's shares fell over 1 percent, trading at Rs 259.20 on the NSE at 09.21 am.
- Antfin Singapore Holding, a subsidiary of Alibaba Group, owned a 4.3 percent stake in Zomato and the sale triggers a 90-day lock-in period before another equity dilution.
- The stake sale follows Zomato's quarterly earnings report, which showed a net profit surge of 126.5 times to Rs 253 crore, driven by increased platform fees and improved operational profitability in Blinkit.

As everyone knows that zomato is now hiring 800 employees after two months of a mass layoff, and exit of senior profiles like VP and CTO.

Let me tell you the truth about the founder. He is an opportunist. He doesn't give a shit about the culture or any employee. The company is built on the death of many riders and cheating with low-wage workers.

Timing- Isn't it a bit weird that a company that did a mass layoff two months back is now hiring? Seeing that many employees got laid off from the top-tier company. It is a great time to employ smart folks as the hiring competition in the market is at its lowest. Or the mass layoff that happened previously was planned with the thought of hiring again next year with very little competition and desperate candidates. 

Layoff: In zomato, it's hire and fire culture. I have seen many of my friends leave even after performing well. Honestly, sometimes I don't even feel human. It's expected from employees to start their day early and go late at night. If you want to leave early (around 6 or 7), you should have a solid reason for doing that. Here code release happens late at night due to less traffic. So it's expected of you to be available all the time.

Incompetent Managers- I have worked with two managers here. Both know the existing system as they were once an IC building that system. The issue with these people is that they grew up the ladder because they were the only ones left behind in the team. They lack real-world system knowledge. I have previously worked at amazon, and I know the team lead level there. But here it's like jo ruk gaya vo raja hai. It's hard to work with these people as they lack proper estimations of the projects and at the end of the day. The ICs have to face the wrath of the product teams.

People who are planning to join the company. Please do join, as working 24/7 you would learn a lot in a very short period of time. Also, the culture is team dependent, so you might get a team with chill environment.

- The 'going-out' business is already profitable with a run-rate of over $500 million annualized Gross Order Value (GOV), and Zomato aims to further expand this offering.
- The move positions Zomato in direct competition with apps like BookMyShow, which currently dominates the online movie-ticket booking market in India.
- Zomato's net profit surged to Rs 253 crore in the June quarter, with revenue rising 74 percent to Rs 4,206 crore, indicating strong growth despite broader e-commerce sector challenges.

This may sound like a dumb question, but why do these companies fire just before the IPO? isn't an IPO a good thing? More cashflow. Shouldn't they be taking care of their employees who made it reach there?
