What is the resignation process in Cognizant, and what would be the notice period for an associate? Can I resign in the middle of a project? I have been working in Cognizant for only 1 year so I don’t have much idea. What would be the process of resigning? Do I need to speak to my manager prior to mailing my resignation? Please guide.

Cognizant Notice Period

It has almost been 18 months since I have joined TCS. I was on the bench for a total of 5 months in the beginning, and finally got a project.

I went to the office and my manager told me that it would take few days for document verification and security clearance. I was coming to the office daily but had nothing to do. I was getting anxious since I was just watching Youtube videos for almost a month. I wanted WFH but when I asked they said I had to come to office even if I had no work.

Finally, I got a KT from someone working on the project. I came to realise that I was doing work that even a 9th class student can do. The problem? 5 people were doing this work.

The problem? I was working 30 minutes a day. I had to come early to the office, login using my seniors login creds and do timepass work. I have to send an email to our point of contact at the client side that the work is done at the end of the day.

I have learnt nothing here. I feel that these companies are just too inefficient. I am planning to leave ASAP now. I have learnt nothing and I am scared that I will not find another job because I have the Years of Experience but no skills. This is how IT companies destroy your career. Now I am doing DSA to get into another company.

What is the dark side of working at service based IT companies?

Previously I worked in Persistent Systems for 2 years. Recently my hr called me to share the screen and resign. They have given me 7 days time to submit laptop and all the assets, leave the company. I just want to understand can't we do anything if they asked to do force resign. Because I have been in this company for 2 years, past 6 months they started doing this for atleast 40 employees per month only from my branch Hyderabad . Now it has become per week because they don't have projects and lot of projects are going to end in few months and already few projects moved out because when I spoked with senior in the company they are saying projects signed for 5 year's contract has now not interested to move. I asked  why because of internal company politics, favouritism, fake and backdoor employees, over commitment due to these projects are not delivered in given deadline. How employees Will look for another oppurtunity in 7 days, also in my case when said to my recruiter that I am laid off they didn't schedule interview call then I changed my plan started saying them that I am having offer of A from x company going to join in next 15 days, then they shared scheduling interview. 
Won't there be any legal action we can take on employer as an employee in this cases.

I am working in TCS..and I had done my 2 years in tcs and now my total experience is 7+ years and I am trying outside but still I haven't received calls ..can I resign and try outside ? Is that better way or not ? Please suggest me

I want to quit my job and take a break. 

I Have been contemplating to do the same for almost an year but decided not to do it. So many things have happened since then

1. Layoff wave started in india
2. Got married
3. Had to move back to bangalore from hometown

Reason I want to quit is I don't feel like working , feeling bored and work doesn't interest me that much. 

I want to take a break chill for a bit but don't have guts to do the same considering market conditions ( what if I don't get a job when I am back in the market😅) 

Please give any advice on how to tackle this situation or if someone has gone through the same, would love to hear your experience. 

Also how is the product hiring currently in India? 

PS:  I do have a good runway for 4-5 months considering all expenses but I am scared to take the step

Hey all, How are you ?
Well I am not fine, I am devastated and have no idea what to do with my life now. As I can't see any way out of this mess where I am right now.
I finally got an offer from a company where I have to join in 1 month but my current company is not allowing me to leave before serving the notice period of 90 days. Despite being on the bench for the last 5 months and still no hope for getting allocated with a project. Firstly, my manager told me that they'll give an early release if I find another opportunity somewhere. But now since I have got the job offer from a different company he denied it. 

The HR of the company where I have to join after a month told me it's not possible to wait for 90 days and he'll revoke the offer if I am unable to join in a month.

😓 my life is a complete mess now. Don't know what to do. I am literally crying every hour, seeing my career getting ruined. It was my mistake joining such a company where employees are not at all valued. 

It was difficult for me to find another job as I didn't have proper experience. I worked on a project for 8 months only and the project got ramped down. 

Now I don't have any choice. I feel like I am trapped for life and there is no way out.
Writing this post with watery eyes. Hoping to know if there is any solution to this trap.

Seeking Advice: Should I Stay or Move On?

Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some advice regarding a career decision. I currently have an offer of 15 LPA from a new company, but my current employer, TCS, is in the process of initiating a retention offer. I have around 7 years of experience in Business Analysis and Data analysis. And current salary is around 4.83 LPA.

Here’s where I need your input:

	•	How much can TCS typically offer in terms of retention?
	•	Is it worth staying for a retention offer, or should I go for the new opportunity?

A few more things to consider:

	•	The project I’m currently assigned to at TCS is in the initial stages, and I haven’t been actively involved in any work yet. It’s still at the requirements-gathering phase.
	•	Given this, should I push for a release or stay for the new project?
