This sounds like me. The worst part, my job is completely remote, and I don't have any friends in my hometown.

Even if I get a 5-minute break, I look for more work or scroll social media. I don't leave my brain free for a moment. Always doing or consuming something, not in a healthy way. One thing leads to another and post-nut clarity hits. 

I have joined a gym. I am trying to be regular. 

I am trying to learn new technologies but no success.

I work in remote mode full time, occasionally visit the office, once in 3 months. My office is located in a different city from where I live in.

The work I do is challenging and interesting, but I manage to complete my tasks by working for max 4-5 hours a day. Remaining time of the day, I get distracted, not with household duties but by doing research on random stuff. I want start a company, but I have no idea where to start. I consume a lot of information, yet most of the time I spend goes unproductive. By nature, I am very unorganized. 

Most of my friends are busy in their own world and I don’t want to disturb them seeking advice.

Any idea how I can get over this habit to make productive use of my time, while WFH?

we don't have an ODC or seats allocated thus no option to goto office. 
During the initial days, I felt blessed about this WFH and lately it impacts my work life balance. 
I binge eating and binge watch tv shows when there's no priority work.

I feel I don't have any motivation to learn anything and also feel disconnected whenever I meet another techie.

Hi all, just looking for guidance or maybe similar people. Working in a service based company from past two years. Got this job from college placements. Work feels monotonous at best and there is nothing challenging. I don't even care about the pennies I am earning, nothing feels good. No sense of purpose. Want to switch not even getting a single selection mail lol. Maybe my resume is weak IDK. 
Maybe want to pursue higher studies again IDK.
Maybe I want to change entire field and go into something animation related, again IDK. 
Ahh IDK what I am even writing, I just get bored of everything very fast and can't imagine myself working in same field for very long. Also, I want to learn everything at same time. Does any of this even makes sense!?

So I'm a Marketing & Growth Guy with 7 years of experience (Expertise - Performance Marketing) and currently working for Company abroad as a Growth Lead for one of their projects. I get 2.5 Lacs (In Hand) every month as a salary.

Now the problem is, they hired me last year April. And product isn't ready till now. Whenever it is about to be ready, there's a new pivot that comes across and I go completely free. I've done only 2-3 mini campaigns. 

Also, its WFH so I've plenty of free time. And I'm wasting it by sleeping in the afternoon. It's like I'm getting free salary without doing anything. Recently I've started actively swing trading in Stock Market and have got 2 small freelancing projects - Just to keep myself busy.

With this, I'm obviously not learning anything at work and also, there's a sense of insecurity that I'll be laid off anytime. 

What should I do? Leave it? Or continue my guilty pleasure? My age is 29 and I would want to move towards stability.

I always hated WFH during Covid days. I have always made good friends at work. Sometimes even girlfriends (when I leave the company). 

Now I recently joined a company with amazing salary. But it’s work from home. I spend most of my time on a bed. Even if I do something productive, that’s completely being alone. 

Sometimes I go days without speaking a word. And I can’t talk to old friends every day. It’s become very lonely and I really miss Working from Office. 

P.S: I stay in a rented flat with a friend. Even he’s most of the time unavailable due to his office.

I have been into programming since I was 15.
I have been working in the IT industry for the past 8 years and have been very successful in my domain because of my will to solve problems at work as interesting puzzles.

But this interest has slowly and gradually formed a huge part of my life to a level that if I am away from it for sometime, it gives me anxiety.

I am afraid this will affect my other parts of life like giving attention to my family, spending ample time with them.

As a process, I started to have no code Saturdays so that I am completely away from my laptop and spend time doing other mundane things. But this has not reduced the anxiety.


Any suggestions for reducing my workaholic nature ?

ChatGPT and AI tools are slowly killing my coding skills too. I used to create tools and projects for fun. Now I’m unable to stay put to take anything to completion. I take AI’s help to write CSS too. 


Thanks to the nature of work I’ve done, I’ve not learnt anything new in the last 2-3 years.

Im not social. I don’t exercise much. I don’t watch movies either.

I don’t have a freaking routine or purpose or goal.

Buddy i was in same boat. Start by joining an expensive gym where the money pricks you n trainer follows up with you for diet, progress and mostly you showing up every day. The rest will fix in auto pilot..

But its better, Watching reels/shorts would give a feeling of satisfaction because of the dopamine release.

These days due to low job security and having faced layoff last year, I always feel the need to continuously do interview prep like DSA, LLD, etc even when I am not actively looking for a job. Plus, due to new technologies coming up, I feel the need to keep upskilling too. If I don't upskill or do interview prep continuously, I feel guilty as if I am wasting time. I feel like at this point, I am just living life to upskill and interview prep. Is there a way to balance all this along with work as it gets very tiring after a while and I feel burnt out?

Being someone who gets bored easily, I don't have that urge, or lets say am reluctant to start work everyday (analytics - not a fresher). 
Keeping switching aside, what's something I could do to find ownership? If not for turning this to something extremely interesting, least I wouldn't want to go through this every morning.

I can't seem to relate to much of the non-FAANG junta out there. I mean I have a cushy job with probably 0.1% pay of all SWEs(pretty much like all of us do). But these cookie-cutter roles have been taking a mental toll on me. Like I am getting paid but I feel a little purpose-less. What am I gunning for in this life? 

All my life I wanted to go to a good college to get into a good company. In college I wanted to get a good codeforces rank so that I could get into FAANG. Now that I am in FAANG I have nothing to look forward to. 

Any of you all feeling this way? Because I don't see myself offer-shopping and feeling much happy about that either.
