I've been approached recently by a Series B company to lead their Customer Success team for a specific region. But honestly, I'm a bit uncertain about continuing in this industry. Currently, searching for alternative paths that could potentially be a better match for me. So, I thought I'd ask here to gather some perspectives from you all. 

Brownie points if you could help with alternative paths you think I could explore.

Is there a future for Customer Success or no?

Customer Success

I was laid off on 7th Sep and my garden leave was till 29th Sep. I got average severance package and I was in panic situation for almost 2 weeks. 

I gave interviews for 12 targeted position (luckily got till last rounds for all positions and got total 5 offers.
2 offers felt like being exploited, employers were milking my layoff situation and offered 10%-15%. I took a call to reject them and explore further.
Got 3 offers in first week of Jan, these were worth considering.
Yes I did wait for 4 months to see such favourable offers.
One with 15% hile and relocation, second with 60k Euro and move to Europe and third offer with 100% hike with remote.
It was a no brainer and I closed on the one with Remote and 100% hike.

Dont just rush to close on anything which comes first, assess the future and close on the decent or best one according to ur needs. 

For those who were laid-off recently and looking for opportunities I would say keep faith market is opening and positions are getting listed.
You will get something good soon.

I am working as a Analyst/Software Engineer at a service based company. Tech stack is Powershell, PowerBI, FlexeraOne, SQL Server, SNOW etc.

Apart from that, I have being actively involved in Data science, ML, Coding since college and have developed variety of skill sets in them and have written in resume also. So, I got it opportunity based on that only and hike is around more than 100%, Remote working.

I believe I am less paid according to market, and this opportunity I got due to my volunteering as a Speaker, Community work in Tech etc

I am afraid that I will be stuck in Customer facing role as Tech is not much involved here. Can you share your opinions please?

Currently I’m in a 600 member saas company with 23L CTC (60% fixed) - Account Management role. The culture is great and the work was joyful until 3-4 months back. Now its not that joyful nor am I enthusiastic about the company’s future.

I have an offer from a 200 member saas company who has grown rapidly even in such economic conditions. Getting an offer of 18 to 20L (90% fixed) - CSM role.

What would you choose if you were in my place?

As the title suggests, I often wonder what is the natural progression for people who join startups in Chief of Staff or even Founder's office roles? Do they move to a specialized vertical internally? Or do they move to other startups in CoS roles? Or they do their own venture (I like to believe this is still less likely). Have this thought because a lot of Tier 1 MBA, MBB consultant profiles have been moving to these roles and it really makes me wonder what path would the careers of these top talents take?

Am i wrong if i check with Support or Customer success team if there are any defects due to which i see a decline in user activity in my SAAS tool since last 3 months.

I was asked this question in an interview that what would be your first step if you need to figure out why there is a decline in user activity since last 3 months.

Question

I’m working at an Indian startup that raised their series B recently... I’ve been here long enough to wear multiple hats and currently doing Solutions consulting(fancy way of pre sales)

Now as the company is getting out of early stage, it looks like now they want more specialists. So I’ve been asked if I’d want to continue doing solutions engineering or switch to being a manager in CX(onboarding, support or success)….cant become a manager in SE as there are very limited no of folks here. I’d want to know if folks here have some guidance on when should one look to switch the path from an IC to a Manager career ladder.

Some additional info:
1. Personally I feel I should top out my compensation range as an IC before taking a manager role as my assumption is managers don’t get paid highly in India (let me know if that’s not the case)
2. I’ve more than 7 years of professional experience 
3. Fairly good with people and would like to go the manager route someday but I feel if I switch now it might hamper my long term earning potential. Is this thinking right?

Would appreciate any help that folks can provide to be able to make this decision. Or any guidance on how to think about this as well(if I’m being shortsighted).  TIA!

Can someone with 4-6 years of PM experience in the B2C space shift to companies such as Salesforce / Intuit? Lately, I have been feeling that there is a lot of applications for B2C roles and there is hardly any fulfilment with respect to the work, primarily everyone is just copying features.

As the title suggests I’m looking forward to a discussion around the future of SE roles in India. There isn’t a lot of information around career advancement and/or compensation metrics available.

About me: I’m working at an early stage startup as an SE(not really into this but as a generalist tried doing whatever I can and currently here). have a total of 5+ YOE with 3 in pre sales at an IT major. Was the first SE here. Really enjoy the 0-1 phase and have worked in this startup for 2+ years across Customer Success and Sales. Should I look forward to growing in the SE field or try to move to Product(in the same company)….What would be better in the long run in terms of work, compensation and growth( SE, sales or product)…

Curious to understand how many of you from the Sales or Customer Success teams understand tech

Currently as a Csm, I feel that I have a lot of knowledge gap in understanding tech, i feel it would be benficial for me to deep dive and be more knowledgeable in this aspect as it might help me  in interacting with clients in a more technical manner and also liason with the product and engineering teams in solving my clients problems.


For example if my PM tells me that this issue will take 3 days to resolve i have no option but to agree to his terms as i dont have the technical knowledge to challenge his ETA.

It would also help me to explain to the client the root cause in a more technical manner and also why certain issues will take the time they are taking to resolve.

Transition from Customer Success to PM

Hi All, would love to hear your thoughts/ideas/strategies on how to switch from a Senior Customer Success Manager role to a Product/ Project Manager role. 
Brief background - Total Work-Ex 9 years (2.5 years in IT services pre MBA + 6.5 years in Sales/KAM/Customer Success post MBA). Recently have switched few companies in search of better roles/compensation and that also reflects in a negative way in resume. Not able to get even an interview call while applying for PM roles.
