These days HRs are asking the employees before sitting for an interview about their current ctc. I don’t want to reveal that to them and want to get paid according to the industry standards/ based on the market conditions. How to smoothly avoid that question and avoid getting underpaid?

How to avoid “what’s your current ctc?”

I got to know that budget for the role i interviewed is in range of 20-25 LPA. My last drawn salary itself is lower than the market standards. The company wouldn't give hike more than 30% considering my experience in the role domain. But I have performed well in all my interview rounds. 
Any tips from the community to negotiate for atleast the lower band of their budget?

I have been applying for jobs, and every time I get a recruiter call, they ask me for my current СТС.
Is it ok to tell them the current CTC at the very first call?
Asking this because, in my current company, the budget was more but they gave me hike based on my previous CTC, because I had disclosed my current CTC before.
Also, how do I tackle the question how much is my expected salary? Is it a good idea to tell them right away? 
Asking this because what if they have bigger budget but still end up paying how much I asked for. 

PS: I am new to all of this, please help me how to tackle these questions.

Recruiters always ask for your current compensation which is technically 'confidential'

It's unfair for you to disclose your compensation without getting something in return.

Let's CHANGE the tone of these conversations.

I always ask for their budget before I disclose mine. Enough people do this and it'll become the norm and gives you a fighting chance to safeguard against lowballing. 

Objection handling:
1. "Our budget is flexible depending on the role and experience" - counter - what role are you considering me for? What's the range for that role? - if they still deny that's bullshit, all companies even startups have a ceiling they've at least thought of
2. "Our hikes are fixed at 20-30%" - run. Or if you care about the co. try talking about market standards and fair pay
3. If they're being unreasonable and not giving any info, you say your compensation is confidential / not comfortable sharing it at this stage

Expected CTC - 1.2x Glassdoor/ambition box for business roles. Tech has levels.fyi. 
If they try to haggle at this stage itself, say you'd like to focus on the job fit and the opportunity and talk about compensation later which you believe would be open to discussion for the right candidate.

Had the first (exploration) call with my would-be boss and HR lead to figure out which role I would fit in. Company is an MNC startup, best culture ive heard of, lots of friends working there in different verticals etc. I usually dont reveal salary this early on but it was a very quick call and they asked about it and I felt like I had to this time to not come off as a snob or stuck up.

Chances are low and I am okay pushing back but Im paranoid about getting lowballed now. Any advice on how to better my chances in the upcoming rounds? Greatly appreciate any help

Guys, need a quick descriptive help here. I applied to the position of senior profile for which in 1st round only they gave asked youe CTC expectation and at what CTC you will not go beyond. I shared my CTC and after 3 days I got an mail stating that my candidature got rejected because they will not be able to pay that CTC which is market standard that i asked. Now, i want to work in that company because profile is good and will help to draft my career and i am ready to decrease my CTC expectation also. 

My problem is how do I portray over mail and what pointers i should be adding to convey them to consider my profile for next round of interview as i am ready to work at lesser CTC (asked 3x of my curent CTC when lastly was discussed). 

Note: HR didn't asked my my current CTC . She directly asked expectations and at what CTC you will not go beyond.

How much should my ask be, while applying for jobs that could be considered a safe number in terms of CTC? 

Want to gauge before applying since expected CTC is a mandatory question while applying for more jobs.

Also, my org. without my consent has increased my notice period from 30 to 60 days - I’m sure everyone wants an immediate joiner but what would be an ideal notice period range which I should state. This would help me in deciding how much of my notice period should I buy out.

There’s this chap on GV who posted that they haven’t received any calls for the past 3 months. Has 2.5 years experience with a current ctc around 15L. We spoke to them only to realise their expectations are 32L (26 fixed and 6 in esops)

In a market flooded with resumes due to unfortunate situations, is it fair to have such an expectation and at the same time, call out on GV that they haven’t been getting calls for an interview?

Are high expectations in such a market valid (even accounting for cream deserves takes)

Revolut ( UK fintec) has three types of ranking in support specialist workflow. Graduate, junior, and mid level. Once you have gone through the test,interview, and all,they will put you in one of these three rankings based on your performance and exp. Generally Grad (0-1yoe), Junior 1-2), Mid(2/3+) .  YOE not sole critera, they can be lenient based on performance 

Grad ( 4- 5 lpa)
Junior (5-7.5)
Mid (7.5-10)

This is true for Fincrime, kyc, kyb , screening, and ongoing monitoring.

FIU and TM crypto pass 1 -2 lac more than the other.

Mid (fiu) can pay 12 lpa even with 2 yoe.

This is for support specialists' production roles.

A 4yoe + 2 yoe in TL can fetch you 15+ lpa as a TL. Again, crypto and FIU can fetch you upto 22 lpa.

Your current ctc doesn't hold you back. Revolut doesn't negotiate hard. 2 negotiations and they offer you or they don't. Its not back and forth with them. 

4.5 ctc has got 11.5 ctc there. 150% hike. 2 rounds of negotiations. Plain simple. 

If you are applying for any role. Don't hesitate to ask more, be your lawyer. These figures already exist. Maybe there are other higher figures too that i am yet to come across.

PS : I dont work there, but 6 ppl whom i supervised do.

So I have roughly around 1 year of Full time experience plus 3 months Internship experience which I did prior to this Job. Now again, I am hunting for a better offer(Current is 3.6 LPA). I gave some interviews of Delhi NCR based companies. Interview was good, and after interview HR again asked me about the Expected CTC. I told them for 6 LPA. So is it like more or less. I have given around 4-5 interviews. All of them doing the same nor they hired anyone yet(Checked LinkedIn page). Please help me.

What is with Indian recruiters wanting to know your CTC as the very first step of hiring? And when asked to share the ctc range in which the role falls, they refuse to share.  So basically they just want to lowball candidates based on their current CTC and parity is a joke?
Now If a recruiter denies sharing the range for the role and insists on knowing my CTC, I run!  What are your thoughts?
