I was interning with a logistics visibility company called FourKites. (SDE Intern)
Joined in June 2023 and left in March 2024.
They made us work like mules. As interns, we used to do same work as that of SDE-1 and SDE-2 . Bug fixes, working on features, automation , QA, everything we did for 25k stipend hoping that we would get PPO in the end.
In March, they told us that only 6 out of 40 interns will be given PPO, rest all can fuck off by 31 may. I resigned the same day but still haven't gotten a single OA except for IBM and IBM didn't reply after the OA.
I feel frustrated and lost.

I work as an intern at a startup who pays me a reasonable 20k. Sometimes I feel I am not giving my 100 percent and I feel I am always lacking something. In my college, many of the students are preparing for GATE and hence not interested in doing internships. So they're always busy with either watching movies or making their notes. So when I see other students who are doing internships, I feel a little down. I don't know why. 
Is this what they call 'imposter syndrome' ? How to control those thoughts?

I am in my 3rd year (BE) . Unfortunately got tier-3 college. Was very ambitious regardless of the situation ,wanted to crack FAANG or any big thing. Started Learning from the first year itself while others were just enjoying . Was working very hard . Did some DSA . Did some full stack web-dev . College is super bad so relied on yt for roadmap and advice(No didi bhaiyas specifically) .There is literally sooo much to do dsa, dev , cp in just 4 year where i have to search the way out and learn while college bullshit (attendence , cgpa). Now everything seems worthless. All my efforts are all in vain. All are on the same pedestral now.  No one is getting anywhere. NO INTERNSHIP ,, i could see myself getting 4-5 lpa after this grind in the end. Well in the end I have to accept the fate that I am mediocre.

I myself am a Software dev with more than ten years of exp. 

I mentored a bunch of folks and was active in lot pf communities. I have been noticing this trend for more than couple of years about how freshers and developers with experience of less than two three years are aggressively looking to switch companies to target 30L or 50L or whatever they are currently looking for. 
But I feel this is really bad for future in terms of career growth. I am not against looking for the best offer, but I feel people recently don’t have any priority for career growth. 

I am trying to understand their perspective. I am not jealous of any of these. Heck I prefer that they get more, so that they have to increase my pay to keep up with current trends. It’s just when people ask me for career guidance I don’t want to sound like a jerk to prioritise good work over good pay. 

Can you guys share your inputs/perspectives?

Hope you're having a great day.
I am 25 years old working in q2b domain at 4LPA. It usually makes me feel dumb when i see people my age are getting 20+LPA while i am still struggling and confused with my career but at the same time motivates me to work harder to achieve my dreams.
I have a really keen interest in equity research and recently i have also completed a course to get a position in the same domain but it isn't easy to get any response from HR. I have applied to 200+ positions with no response from the other side.

I'd appreciate it if someone here could guide me and help me get into equity research.

Confused about my career

I joined the company in Dec of 2021 and since then I have been completing udemy courses and company wide seminars and everything except work.

I got into a project around June and till now I haven't done any work at all. When I ask the manager about this he always says the profile has been sent to the client, they will let us know about work and stuff like that. Towards December he just saw my messages and didn't even reply back.

I was off-boarded from the so-called project a while ago and when I asked about this he says I'll be shifted to another project. "P2P movement" idk what it is.

In summary: on paper I have 1 year experience but I don't have any knowledge about work and I'm functioning like I'm still a fresher. I don't think I can quit as I'm on a two year bond.

I got this job when I was in very desperate times and I'm very grateful for it and the salary I'm getting but I'm still at a place where I can't tell anyone what work I did in 1 whole year in a company. Maybe I can prepare for some competitive exams or prepare for another job, but tbh I don't know anything about anything. 

My friends tell me to chill out since I'm getting paid for doing nothing but I don't feel that, I feel I'm stagnated to a point where I can't see where I'm going to end up in my career. I don't even know if I'm an experienced working professional or still a fresher.

What's your biggest mistake that you made in college.

I am recent college graduate working at a good company with decent salary. 
I have three kind of friends from my college, 
1. Those who got very good ctc, like 15 to 30lpa ( mostly girls are here ) 
2. Those who got decent, like 5 to 7 lpa
3. Still trying to get job, or have one but company is delaying on boarding. 

But the fact is everyone has more or less same level of knowledge, still someone making lakhs and someone is not able to pay bills.

These days I'm getting a feeling of jealousy from these girls, they got the opportunity from programs which was only for womens. And not only this when I talk with them they don't even respect what they're getting, always like it's so less, I'm not able to save anything.

Whenever I talk with them, either I got stressed or  tensed, or felt left out.

I am a new grad working at a big MNC as a Data Analyst. It's extremely beurocratic and slow. We do meets all day and no work, it's as if we are paid for meetings. I was quite excited about it as I though I would be working on interesting ML projects (I find ML and AI quite interesting). But all I have been working on is projects where you try to maintain fucked up legacy stuff. 

I see a way out, startups where I would actually build stuff, use my skills to solve actual problems. Is this perception correct? Will work actually be more interesting and useful in startups?

I am also concerned about the pay? Although I earn a pretty average salary even here, I suspect it might be lower in startups. But I have a gut feeling that I will learn, and grow a lot more working at startups coupled with networking with entrepreneurial people which should result in higher earnings in the long run. Again is this perception correct?

Confused between big corporates and startups

I completed education from tier 1 colleges (MBA and Engineering both from coveted IIM and IIT). After MBA, I joined Wall Street bank and life was really good. Was enjoying the perks of a MNC although the work was also excruciating but was an overall good experience.

Left it for a startup (fast growth kida in me led this decision). Worked in the startup across multiple roles, learned a lot of new things. Tried staying away from office politics and earned a good name in the circle. But growth (read pay) was not that enticing and was not growing hence decided to leave. Was naive enough to quote this reason to business head and HR as well. Obviously it didn't go well with anyone.

Joined startup2, changed cities and joined it. The role was similar, although my manager was an epitome of a toxic manager. Was doing good but he always was able to find some or the other mistake in my work. If he would not find any mistake then he would suggest some tangential hypothesis and then reprimand me for not thinking about it. Was so toxic that I didn't take leave when my wife was hospitalized and giving birth to our child.
Tried doing everything possible but couldn't save the job and got laid off in the 1st lay off wave.

Was shattered. Confidence was at rock bottom. Tried searching for roles. Luckily I got into startup3 who had remote work at that time. Although I joined the marketing team (which was not at all related to my previous work) thus creating a mess of my profile.
Worked hard but in a "restructuring" exercise got laid off again.

Within a year 2 lay offs with random work and no concrete direction in work. 
Now searching for roles but not able to find anything suitable as I was in non-core roles and in this difficult time everyone is looking for cheap resources with 1-3 yoe and not looking for 7+ yoe with generalist profile.

Contemplating starting from zero in Marketing or learning coding/Data science so that can start my career again with right basics.

Cousin had their 12th boards result come out today. Reminded me of how anxious I was when it happened.
I scored well in 12th, 95%. But had always been an average student before that, which resulted in me having less confidence throughout my school life.

Cuz marks were so important. Now I realize a lot of my personality got shaped because of school. 
And studying hard in 12th and then college helped me be more disciplined at work all these last years too. 

Wonder if you guys connect your education years with work years?

Work feels monotonous at best and there is nothing challenging. I don't even care about the pennies I am earning, nothing feels good. No sense of purpose. Want to switch not even getting a single selection mail lol. Maybe my resume is weak IDK. 
Maybe want to pursue higher studies again IDK.
Maybe I want to change entire field and go into something animation related, again IDK. 
Ahh IDK what I am even writing, I just get bored of everything very fast and can't imagine myself working in same field for very long. Also, I want to learn everything at same time. Does any of this even makes sense!?

Maybe just another lost soul

So , I graduated in 2023 from a decent college (private) and my branch was CSE. I had a job which I didn't do due to some reasons and then started looking for another job .
It's mid of 2024 now and I still don't have a job and I am in desperate need of a job and the problem is I don't know what to do now . I don't know if I should continue preparing on my own or get a course with job support ,I don't know if I should change my sector or continue with it , lots of things going on my head 
I hope to get some great suggestions over here 
P.s. i think getting a course with job support will be ideal for me

I have not factored in inheritance of about 1CR which will be passed on to us in a long time but I don't want to count that as mine I want to pass that to my son... As that will be his not mine! 

3.5 year back I had a educational loan of 17L and my Wife had Equity of 17L so basically we were at 0 at that time... 

Nothing has changed at all for me... And I do not think even 10-20CR would change me too 😉 I am still a confused stupid... And will be forever ♾️

I have resigned from my current job as I was not satisfied.. I am looking out for more opportunities outside so that I can build the house with that money! 

Even with 2 CR I don't think I have achieved anything ... I have a long way to go from here ☺️
