I’m a copywriter with 4 years of work experience with some fairly big brands. Revently a few people have been reaching out for copy projects. Some are willing to pay per project, and others look at a long term commitment. So far I’ve been letting them tell me what they are willing to pau and if it seems okay to me I take it up. I want to ask if there’s a better way to work around this? How do I know what’s a fair compensation to write a video script? And what do I quote when someone wants me to come on board their brand for long term projects? Please advise..

Anyone who works in creative/marketing/advertising circles how much is the industry standard for a copywriter the brand side?

I've handled copywriting, creative strategy, and execution for brands for the last 8+ years. Many of those in agencies, and the last few in a B2B SaaS tech company.

Because of my agency background, I know I'm pretty underpaid, but since that can change now, I wanna know what's the baseline for my profile considering my experience.

I kill it with creative requirements for branding, paid promotions and literally anything under the sun that the brand needs. Nothing long form, because that's a different ball game altogether.

I'm getting just under 20LPA right now.
I'm up for appraisals soon. I've been with this company for 2+ years.
Please tell me what's the salary bracket I should be in.

I'm great at what I do, just not this salary stuff 🤦🏾‍♂️. Please help a brother out!

As Software Engineers, it might be bit difficult starting out with first freelance gig or contract job.

I was able to secure one in college with about 50k/month for about 4months working as a back end engineer for an Indian SaaS company and international client.

Great learning and great pay for a newbie.

Also if you have a full time job and freelance gig. how do you juggle between both? Keeping in mind you also need to take personal time and time for fitness.

I’ve have worked in startups all through my career but am now getting lured towards working on the agency side to get an opportunity to work on much bigger brands but I’ve been going through some career pages and OMG, how are they still paying peanuts to even Senior Copywriters in metropolitan cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore. It’s insanity. Or maybe I’ve just tasted the zirp startup honey. I am not opposed to taking a pay cut for a year or two if it results in compounded growth, but do you all feel like it’s worth it?
