Do we need separate community for women on Grapevine?

Was speaking to two of my friends (from GV) on this topic. One was supporting, and one against. As a fellow female on Grapevine, I think it is not necessary. If only we stop treating women as second gender, and just see them as basic humans, a lot of things will change. To let people have a safe space to voice opinions, does not need a secluded room. So many of us are unaware of problems (physical, mental, emotional) others face, this platform does a great job in bringing all at one place.

[Long Post] I think I understand why Grapevine works well.

It’s therapeutic because you can share different aspects of your life that you can’t talk about on other platforms. For instance, you can't criticize the Ola CEO on LinkedIn, demand justice for the Kolkata rape case on Twitter without getting a notice from the Kolkata police, or express unhappiness on Instagram because that’s not the vibe of that platform. But on Grapevine, you can do all of this and more. Funny enough, I’ve been able to analyze different aspects of my personality (and all my different personalities). My brain works a lot, I talk a lot, and I think a lot. Over the past year, I've realized I see things very differently than how society, media, or authorities expect me to. Grapevine has been a tool for understanding myself better. I can share a thought, and maybe 15 people will respond—some agreeing, some disagreeing, and a few might even call me names. But that’s okay, that’s just how they function. All part of self-discovery. Another thing I appreciate about Grapevine is that it removes the halo effect we often have. Our names, colleges, and companies are masked (some who haven't revealed them), reducing the blurring of judgments. We connect with people on a more human-to-human level. Grapevine is great if you're looking to find a partner, lover, or simply make new friends and expand your network. You can be yourself, and the people who know you here often know you better than those you meet at college, work, or even within your family.

Should Grapevine community gatekeep the posts now onwards ?

Hey Folks, On the onset , I would like to welcome all the new members who joined Grapevine over last few days. Grapevine is a nice platform and I really hope all of you will enjoy great conversations and viewpoint on this community . Now to the point why gatekeeping might become essential : I heard some days back , a good man on YouTube posted a video telling his fans about this awesome community. That is why you might have seen outburst of ‘ this is a nice platform ‘ posts on Grapevine. They also thank him in the body of the post xD. Honestly , I am fed up of this non sense posts And my timeline is already cluttered due to this. Now his followers will start highjacking the community. Right now , this being a professional platform , the posts were interactive and decent to read. Now don’t be surprised if you see posts irrelevant to the community. I remember same thing happening with r/developersIndia community some years back and right now , that sub is kinda dead and have repetitive kind of questions which can easily be found if you have taken the effort to search for the posts. Secondly, I won’t be surprised in case their is a difference of opinion with the Guru , people or his followers will start you bashing left , right and centre. I know this post sounds rude and entitled since everyone should have fair opportunity in life , but definition of fair varies as well. I’m very interested in knowing the POV of everyone involved here - may be I am over thinking. But would appreciate your thoughts on this .

Workplace Toxicity at HSBC

I have been working in HSBC GSC HYD for more than a year and as this journey comes to an end now, I would like to share my experience with you all. The first thing that comes in our mind while joining any new company is about their workplace environment and their HR policies. There have been quite a few incidents that happened during the last one year which I neglected thinking "Isn't this what corporate life feels like?" I neglected everything to the point where it became unbearable for me and made me go through some serious mental health issues and panic attacks. The most recent incident that I would like to share with you all is when I was ethnically humiliated by one of my colleague. The incident happened on 22 April 2024 when I was subjected to ethnically insensitive remarks by my colleague AA. The exacts words which was used by him is 'EK CHAMAAT MAARENGE, BIHAR PAHUCH JAOGI' which exactly means - I will slap you so hard, you will go back to Bihar. I did follow the protocol and informed my manager AT about the whole incident but nothing came out of it, except for a team meeting where I was told that my colleague did not physically assault me, it was just a hatred comment which I can let go of. I reached out to the concerned HR team and filed a POSH Complaint for the same, after weeks of the incident, on 3 May, I received an email from the HR team to give feedback for the same without any updates on what action was taken. I did let go of everything thinking that anyways I will be leaving the office soon as I am currently in my notice period when another incident happened. I was on a smoke break when VKR, AMO from the UK CDD team approached me and made objectifying remarks on me. The comment he made was 'Tmhare jaisi ladki hum aaj tk ni dekhe hai, akele pura UK team ka naam kharab kr k rkhi hai.' which means - He has never seen a girl like me, I have ruined the name of their team. I did ask him the reason for saying such things to which he replied 'tmhare alawa kisi UK team ki ladki ko hm ni dkhe hai cigarette pite huye' which means - he has never seen any girl from the UK team smoking cigarettes. Later while going back inside the office, I saw him eating tobacco and spitting on the wall inside the office premises. My LWD is 13 June 2024 and I hope this post reaches to everyone who are currently working in HSBC and to the people who are planning on joining HSBC GSC HYD before I leave.
