Frontend Developer Job search

I am thinking of leaving my current job and focus on myself, getting to know myself better etc. Currently I have enough money saved for my expenses for next 6-8 months. 
   Everyone I have asked about this say don't leave your job if you don't have another lined up, in this tech winter. I understand their view point. It aligns with what my parents think as well.

Is there anyone who has had done this in the past? Do you recommend this route? Are the consequences far too severe? Does anyone have a different opinion from one stated above?

Anyone ever left job without having another job lying around for their mental peace?

I'm in the same boat, on the verge of quitting, and will most probably take the leap next month.  
 Thanks for the thread. A lot of insights. It has made me confident that I'm not doing anything stupid.

Hi I am a backend developer with around 4 years of experience. 

I have strong development skills in building scalable & distributed systems. I have opensource contributions in reputed projects (netflix, apache, casbin etc.). Most importantly I can take ownership of any work I get and have the capability of finishing it.

What I am not good at it is DSA. Why? Because I don’t feel like investing time there is gonna give me satisfaction. (I feel comfortable solving dsa while walking & and doing something else, not under pressure of clock in front of a guy evaluating me, my brain doesn’t work like that)

I have given up applying to companies where they ask DSA. I am LOOKING OUT for companies asking relevant questions. Or give me take-home assignment and grill me for hours, won’t mind that.

Came across tweet guy asking for frontend job to Dukaan’s CTO who fired his support and tech team just last month, and here is this guy and many others asking him for Job.

Indian SDEs on LinkedIn & Twitter are some of the worst engineers you will ever find across the real world. Their typical value lies around:

- Cracking a FAANG/MAANG or Product company.
- Make an announcement on LinkedIn & Twitter and accumulating followers.
- Starting YouTube channel, Topmate links, affiliate marketing channels, and more.
- Rant DSA, System Design, Interview resources all day long. 
- Post daily of their office, their colleagues, candid shots, and barely getting any work done.

While this is expected out of early career professionals, it pains to see senior SDEs doing the same shit over and over again. Things don't end here — Everyone talks about creating a revolution. And the revolution is teaching DSA. 

If you are an experienced SDE and still ranting DSA, it just means that you have barely learnt anything that is of worth any value. You are atmost a "Ticket Engineer". You get assigned a Jira ticket, you bust your ass solving it, and that's it. That's your entire value. 

Its high time that these "Bhaiya", "Didis", "Bhabhis" stop ranting DSA and System Design over and over, and build something of real value. You would barely see any credible open-source projects coming out of India (but hey, we have some many contributors!), barely any Indie dev project, or anything that captures the attention of the world. 

Literally every popular SDE you might follow or see over your social media is the same. Their entire community game is a farce and designed to capture gullible college students and shill thousands of rupees out of them. You might be featured on Times Square ($40 ka showoff), but no one would remember you for anything that you built.

Indian SDEs will do all DSA and System Design chatter but cannot create any real value

1. If your company is hiring, let us know if you can provide a referral or can help somehow. Be ready with a fake/temporary Email Id to accept applications/resume, or ask to DM.

2. If you know any other company hiring:
Would be better if you could provide the link to the job or company or its career page.

3. If you know a stealth or very small startup hiring right now, do share someone's LinkedIn/Twitter profile whom we can reach out.

4. If you have recently interviewed at a company, try to share a bit about their expectations and interview experience.


Wherever possible, try to mention the tech stack and years of experience expected.
