Few observations:
1. Our generation has moved on from orthodox thinking (baring few people) to more emotional compatibility
2. Men have more worldly expectations, while women seek spiritual features; none are right/wrong as long as they find each other.
3. Very glad that no one 'expected' the partner to take up gendered roles as dictated by society

So, coming to the matchmaking platform. The idea is to have all aspects of life considered - personality, profession, family, demographics, physical attributes, etc. and have a weighted scale against them.

Though I have my doubts here
1. An Introvert will need an extrovert to seek them but will be drained of social battery later. How do they match?
2. Physical attributes pull down people who aren't confident with their looks; that doesn't relate to how good/bad they are as partners. But without pictures, it will be a risky surprise element.
3. Prevent parents from creating accounts on children's behalf. Probably a social media log-in

INR 10-13 lakh spent per wedding in India. 
Average annual household income is INR 4 lakh. 
Assuming 2 households spending, it's 1.2-1.5x their annual income. 
Assuming only the girl's family paying, it's 3x annual income. 
It's absurd how much people love to spend to feed and entertain the people they never want to see in their lives again. 
Also absurd, no big startup in this space. Why is no tech bro/gal conquering the wedding space?

I saw a friend tweet about how Bangalore is full of connected but lonely people jumping in to join every Meetup/WhatsApp group that becomes available. This is my problem with the meetup / conference culture. Meetup culture is all about optionality. You think you'll meet someone new who's cool. Someone who can help you build your network. 

You would rather join a meetup with 100 other strangers than build stronger connections with your friends. In life there are only a few people who really matter. 

People who you can call at 11 PM to rant about your workday. People who you know will be genuinely happy about your promotion. People you share screenshots from work with. It is not probably the 100 strangers in that Whatsapp group that you think of when you are having a health issue and want to share your fears. It also means lowering your ego, which I'm happy to do with my old friends. I'm always happy to ping them when I get the chance, and I'm the one asking them to call me. 

I'm the one who asks them to hang out with me. I used to think, "Why bother?" but then I realised that it doesn't matter who reaches out first. It is not about keeping a count. 

I realised it's for me! If I have a chat with a friend of mine who I have known for over 10 years, my mood improves immediately. Everyone is very busy. Everyone is stressed with their jobs and their personal lives. Some of them are married now. Some have children. But that's where you've got to work to keep connecting with the people who matter to you. Friendship is also about being vulnerable. True friendship is built on vulnerability. 

Being able to share your dreams, your failures and your demons with each other. While the meetup culture is all about bumping into people for 5 minutes to judge their worth and whether they are worth your time, my preference is for long 1-1s. Either on the phone or face to face. Holi hai? Diwali hai? So what, nothing to enjoy. Lets spend the day laying on the bed, watching stuff over phone. Feeling less and less disconnected with friends, to the point where I feel I don't even have friends. College friends are based in another city. Didn't even try to make friends at workplace. So bit of context here. I am a 25 year old Male. Moved to bangalore after 2 years of wfh. Stayed there for a year. Got fed up of my job and toxic workplace tendencies so wanted to resign. Dad had been doing a startup for a bit and he felt I was ready to be useful so he asked me to come. I felt it would good for my career so I moved back. 6 months in I feel mentally drained, and all my limited excitement I feel in life are for the small trips I manage to do where I meet some of my college friends/girlfriend. I had read takes online from people that if I had a chance I would leave everything and be at home with parents, but I just dont feel this way. I love my parents a lot but I just dont feel too much anymore. I dont feel like oh I am so lucky I get to spend so much time with my mother. All of my childhood friends from my city have moved to the US. I have 2 friends(not very close but decent) who I meet sometimes, so life is all about waking up, going to office, coming home and calling my long distance girlfriend (who was with me in Bangalore) and falling asleep with 2/3 hours here and there. I rarely have plans. I feel like I am doing something wrong but I cant pinpoint what. How can I passionately want to spend more time with my parents? I just don’t get it from within. Do I really have to work and find new close friends in the city. People at work keep a bit of distance because my dad is the founder. Anyone with any advice?

Anybody here who's in their late 20's and family is pressuring them to get married but you're not mentally ready for the responsibility because maybe first you want to achieve something or be in a better place mentally or financially.

For Indian families marriage is just a checkpoint on their long list of responsibilities like science in school, btech in college, gov vs pvt job and stuff. 

I guess marriage is much more than just a wedding. If you're not mentally ready to have a partner reasons could be multiple like maybe you want to achieve something before tying knot or maybe you want to be at a better place mentally or monetary.

Honestly i dont know how to frame this question 
I just need to know the perspectives of married as well unmarried people or maybe any advice.

The post seems to be from a Doctor and the first half sounds more like you're wasting your life if you're not having sex or kids. Like there's no purpose in life if you aren't getting this.

(And that's how India made 130+ crore earthlings!)

33M here and these points sounded fascinating when I was 25-26, but not anymore. Except for the EMI part everything else looks like a blessing instead of being in a bad marriage. If you're in your late 30s and unmarried, how has it been for you?
