For instance on Grapevine, if I share a post link to someone, and they open the link, they are taken to play store rather than a webpage with the post. They could instead show a banner to download the app on the webpage to download the app like how quora and reddit do.

Is there any particular reason to open a page in browser drawer for a logged in user?

@GV team, opening a sharable link of a post or something GV related should open within the app itself

I don't like in-app browsers 🤷‍♂️

What is stopping GV from allowing us to open links in the system browser?

If you long press links in Grapevine DMs, it automatically gets copied on clipboard

2. A refreshed app logo 
3. Link-type posts now look better 
4. Image type posts now look smaller and cleaner
5. Lots of new algorithm changes that hopefully send ‘better’ posts to you 
6. Lots of new Private Company Communities (more on this soon)
7. Lots of bug fixes

I work with Swiggy and as many of you already know the culture has become extremely toxic in Swiggy. Expectations of working 12-16 hours per day, be available on weekends, play dirty politics, blame other to save yourself , get really really aggressive, all of this with a constant fear of losing your job. The leaders are saying this culture change is required to achieve high growth targets for IPO.  They say a culture like this is required to raise the bar & keep people on their toes. But looking at Byjus it appears that this may help in the short run but eventually things fall apart. Employees are human resources not machines. But these toxic leaders don’t really care, as there is always some people available to replace the previous lot who left due to the toxicity. I really hope the leadership of companies like Swiggy open their eyes & realise this before it’s too late for their business. 

And people who are considering to join Swiggy. BEWARE. This isn’t the place it used to be. People have left within 1-2 months because of this culture. And nearly EVERYONE is looking out to switch.

Today, designers often get inspired by apps designed for audiences outside of India, even though they are designing them for Indian consumers.

While working with MPL, I got the same issue in one of the discussions, and that fueled me to think about this idea to work on.

Back in 2023, I decided to get this ignited and have curated screenshots of 5–6 apps as well. I was ready to launch, but unfortunately faced some issues while deploying it. I didn’t get help from an expert, got busy with other work, and ultimately had to stop working on it.

However, a few weeks ago, someone asked me which was the best domain I owned, and I suddenly remembered Screenrepo. I had two options at that point: sell it or build it, and I decided to build it.

2. Trending Posts for you: Across the app you will now see personalised recommendations for popular posts that you may have missed earlier 
3. GIFs in comments: Let’s see if y’all have a strong GIF game 
4. YOE in Salary Cards: much requested update. Now you can see YOE across salary cards 
5. Feed: A new faster and smoother feed experience 
6. Bug bashing: The infinite post repeat error is solved. The image upload error is also solved along with other minor bug fixes

This is not all. We wanted to rollout a few more things this week but now they're delayed to next. Sorry :/

Here’s three new features we def want to mention: 

More Feeds: 
Now you can browse 4 different feeds from the filter menu on the TOP LEFT of the app:

- Popular (Recommended)
- Recent
- Top of the Week (New)
- Top of the Month (New)

Comment Peaker: 
Many threads on Grapevine get busy with sometimes 25+ comments. Now when replying to comments - the new peak feature helps you see the comment in context as you are replying (so you don't have to relocate the comment you are replying to as you type)

Improved Design for large devices: 
We realized Grapevine kinda sucked on large phone screens. We redesigned and fixed this

A better reading and replying experience on Grapevine

Not sure if it's a bug. If it's implemented as a feature I'm curious to know if the engagement has increased by implementing this. 

I was trying to send a screenshot of a hiring post to my friend and all I can see is black screen. I personally came to know of this app by encountering GVs screenshots posted online.

I know it's forcing someone to use the share button and thereby use the link to download the app. Forced download of an app would help someone? Not sure if someone would download a app just to look at one post.

While I get that the app still looks very on brand, can’t help but feel how impractical and unoptimised the homescreen has become. 

30% of the first fold used for an illustration nobody can recall, even if they open the app 10 times a day. (You can try recalling now and see what i mean)

Minor, but the icons seem to have mixed stroke weights and an unnatural blend of sharp and round corners. 

Perhaps adding a “check bank balance” button on the first fold will he useful since this is a payment app and all. No point hiding it somewhere else. 

Currently, the People section precedes the Businesses section. Once a user taps on the down arrow on people, the list expands to multiple folds and it becomes extremely tiresome to scroll all the way down to collapse the section to access the rest of the page. 

Instead, why not have tabs for People and businesses, side by side. The tab could have a search button within it to easily find contacts. Currently, the search button is all the way on the header and disappears on scroll.

Showing photos and business of people is certainly helpful, but why not make a table that has a card that shows the profile pic, the last payment you sent to them, when you sent it and even a CTA for quick pay. Currently one needs two taps to pay someone. 

Bills can have better prominence somewhere on a difference section and could even use an floating bar type of component that shows up towards the bottom of a screen when bills are due. (Similar to what swiggy uses to show “your food is being prepared”) It might remind a user that certain bills are due in X days

And by god use the rest of the page to show the user some stats on how they spent money. I for one would consistently use the app that showed me my spending breakup. Tell user they spent x% more on food this month, compared to last or some such. 

And throw the offer & promotion section away. Its not 2018. Aint nobody playing games on here either.

Anyone else think google pay needs a major redesign?

Grapevine is just 5 weeks old and we are a very small team :)  But we are trying address feature requests as they come from you all. A few things from us: 

1. We recommend you update the app from the play/app store for the best experience 
2. As per popular demand - timestamps have now been introduced in the app  (available on latest version)
3. New (and hopefully better) algo for the popular feed has been rolled out 

Lastly, please feel free to drop in your feedback and feature requests in this post. We will try to implement everything we can.
