Bruh I'm tired of my parents just scrolling infinity on Facebook which is filled with the most useless shit ever. Not to mention half of it is fake news.

Same here man, I want them to get off of devices. I started taking them to standup comedy shows but that's also only good for once or twice a month. Need to find other stuff for them to stay occupied that doesn't involve scams, cults or politics.

I've got my parents hooked onto Sudoku and reading books on health, apart from their own interest in gardening and other physical chores. But the biggest reason usually is loneliness. So make sure to give them company, listen to them, give polite ideas and help them connect. Once in a while reminding about toxicity of internet while helping to use it wisely is also a good way to let them individually navigate that part of the world. And don't be too judgemental. You can't imagine what blunder the next gen will see u doing.

My mom & dad lives alone and they are retired now .I got married and shifted to a different city. 

I was just wondering if there are any activities where they can keep themselves engaged. 

Mom is usually unwell and she can’t do much physical activities and so is my  dad as he broke his leg and can’t do much of physical activities. 

I wanted to bring them in Bangalore but with my current package and living in 1BHK with the expenses I have , unfortunately I can’t afford to bring them here at this moment. 

Please give me some ideas. 

Gardening , reading books is out of scope for now. 

PS - I wanted them to be engaged with something so that they are not sad & they don’t feel alone.

Nowadays, it is difficult to maintain friendships (old friends) as many are pursuing dreams and for that one has to shift for other countries/state and the rest busy with there jobs and family business.

New friends are difficult to make where people already have there groups of bunch of friends where they don’t want anyone else to join (old friends groups) & also as the smaller groups are easy to manage and for execution of any plans. 

While growing up due to change in habits (smoking, drinking, etc) of our friends we did lose few.. and now they don’t call me up for any plans!

So, basically i am left alone with nobody by my side apart from cousins of same age (more or less)!

Most of the time, I spend my day working on my business.. or at times, working out or reading books..
But at times, i am left alone with my own thoughts and that feeling at times is exhausting and frustrating and sometimes this loneliness becomes toxic!

Can anyone help..

I used to get carried away by the random yt videos of people sharing day in the life videos doing absolutely nothing. And on top of that, most of them had videos where they got a job after 6-8 months of bootcamp.

Now, after struggling to find a full time job after graduating with multiple internship experience, getting a backend role with the condition of "one month internship and full time offer only if you can pick up backend and build features". I realise there is no golden ticket. I must work hard, atleast in the initial career and build hard tech skills.

I see a lot of my peers struggling and they still think just being a React engineer will help them get a gig in this shitty market.

I feel seniors(on social media) should tell the truth, that it's not easy it's very boring and shitty but if you sit long enough you will start getting it, and the next day or the next feature it's all the same happening again

I believe a little bit of gatekeeping in tech is important

But its better, Watching reels/shorts would give a feeling of satisfaction because of the dopamine release.

My current salary is 42LPA. I am from IIT, have 7 years of experience and work in product. Honestly, my value in the market is higher than what I’m being paid but I am very demotivated to optimise for that. When I do see less deserving people minting more money, I feel that I am doing injustice to myself and playing the wrong hand.

More and more though, the thought of earning more money chokes me a bit. I have dreams of building something of my own - that gives me control to build something my way and freedom to live my life as per my terms. But the mindset of “zyada paisa pareshaani hai” doesn’t leave me.

My family also is not dependent on me and whatever is needed from my side, I actively contribute to. I also lack any motivation to focus on my investments and see my money grow. I just have money sitting around in my bank account purely for nothing

I also look at my lifestyle choices from time to time and go into existential debate of why we need the things that we do. This has come to a point where I really do not understand my relationship with money and why we earn and spend it. 

For me at this point, it’s just a show for the world. There’s very little that you need, and really no limit to what you want to show. And I just don’t see a point in it anymore.

 I get the trouble you face. When you’ve almost figured out what you like and what you don’t like (that money isn’t thaaat needle moving, I have basic needs) but at the same time, the opportunity cost of relaxing is too high - everybody from your batch will remind you of how far you can go, and the middle class boy in you will find it difficult to stomach letting go of all the money, even though you can make it  
  
 Went through this at one point. I have ultimately sided with money. I cannot sit back and relax. Money will only unlock a lot of foreign travel and good lifestyle for me. But more than that, I am lucky to be in a position that allows me to earn money easier than other people do. So I’ll make it, help extended family and people who cannot earn as easily, because at least in a country like India, it’s almost a responsibility. We’re not fucking Europe. 
  
 I’ll just not kill myself for it as much as I used to :)

Hey All, I am writing this to express how I am feeling since last 1 year now. This post will be a bit lengthy but I would be grateful if anyone could help me even a bit. 
I moved into a new company 1year back and due to bad work environment I left. I took a months break and joined a new company now. I have a total 5 years of work experience, my salary is extremely good. ( I don’t worry about this at all for now)

My problem is I don’t know what to do in my life. I guess I have quarter life crisis. 

Earlier I wanted to do music and act , I took professional classes and left because I felt bored idk why. I felt like I need someone to guide me and handhold me since I know no one in this industry. 
Talking about my job I have always moved into roles I loved every bit of work and I m very sincere and hardworking. 
I stopped working out , I stopped cycling, I stopped painting.
I stopped liking everything literally. Idk how to get back at things. I feel I am gonna die anyway why I need to do this , or that or etc etc. I even took counselling but it did not seem yo help me. 

Idk what to do. Please share your experiences too and what I need to do.

I know a lot of people love working from home. But small rant here. 
Honestly, straight out of college I thought I would do too. But no, I absolutely do not.

Why? 
1. No personality development. It's honestly like an online college all over again (1/2 of my college "life" was online). I talk to a screen, waste a lot of time otherwise. 

2. I don't have a room to call my own. I know this is going to make me sound like a privileged brat but I need my privacy to feel my full confident self. My family members are always on top of my head and spy on me during work. No they really do.

3. I hate, absolutely LOATHE approaching people on teams. I'm more social, confident and comfortable working in an offline setting be it presenting something or talking to senior folks in general. 

4. I have NO life outside of the computer/home. My hobbies, interests everything are inside the tiny room I share with my parents. I still have 2 different desks (which are literally next to each other) for work and personal stuff respectively. When I had offline semesters, it was really awesome as I had balance.

I graduated in 2023 and of course I have a lot to learn, but I'm seriously thinking about searching for another job that's not WFH. I'm still early career and I think I should not be working remote. Am I stupid?

Work from home is hellish for extroverts. There is no alternative. I've tried co-working spaces. But nothing beats the actual office experience.
