How do your parents stay busy/active ?
If your parents are above 55 & are not working, how do they stay busy/active without usual work ? What do they do exactly?

Give 'em some one to look after š
Mom takes tuitions, Dad has become a social butterfly.
Both have their own walking groups and they go for walks twice daily.
Other than that they travel frequently, chat with other relatives, take lots of naps haha
@LethalDolphin Very nice!
Do they stay with you or elsewhere?
Last year mom enrolled herself in English speaking classes and now practice it. Now, she has started learning how to operate computer nd internet. Later she plans to learn painting.
She is 68 and sometimes I admire her for her undying learning attitude even at this age.

What a bunch sad fcks here who say get them a child to raise.
Sit with them, get to know their hobbies and interests they couldn't pursue because they were busy raising you. Enable them with tech, resources, whatever they need to pursue their wishes.

looking for ideas to keep them active
I make my father to do all household chores like buying stuff and take any order to make sure he is walking and climbing stairs to make him active. For mom I push her to try new dishes. Now she watches cooking videos and try them. But I feel it is not enough. I think putting mom in some sort of tuition like English or computer would be nice and father to some gym for basic exercise would be nice. This is what I will be doing after 1 year.

Need ideas, they have too much energy and too little to do
Long morning walks, yoga, morning chores and cooking duties, breakfast and stock markets, newspaper, morning aarti and puja, reading, lunch whatsapp forwards and nap, more working out, evening aarti, tv series and movies, dinner whatsapp forwards sleep. Repeat
+1
Just about to hit that mark in a year. Parents are figuring out what to do post retirement, and I'm actually really concerned about what the best way to move forward is.
Scary. My mom goes back to work even at 62.
My dad works and then drinks cheap liquor and berates my mom even at 67.

I'm sorry
My parents are set to retire in about half a decade. Dad knows finances quite well, so thinking of getting him active on the stock market, plus act as a personal consultant for tax purposes, for apartment people.
Mom stitches quite well - most of her dresses are those she stitched herself. Trying to convince her to make clothes for the apartment ladies and make a mini biz out of it.
Help them start a website for Freelancing gigs for retired folks.
They could make YouTube videos, I'm sure they watch them, why not create
Start a small business, an upscale Tea and Snack shop could keep them occupied
What about a single parent guys?? I have my mother who's mostly alone at home. Pls help
Enroll her as a mentor in parenting classes. Young couples with a toddler will need their massive experience in raising a kid.
Can you give more details please? This sounds interesting

Mom( is doing tuitions,
Dad was administering a coaching centre till last year. Now looking for something to keep himself busy.
They attend the social gatherings, alternatively visits my family and my brother's family.
They do yearly 1 domestic 7 days outing together to some romantic spots.
Both are in their late 60's.
Ask them to engage more in social circles
Like in your samaj
Or with some sangathan that does charity work
Or becoming an active member of society or mandir committee

By managing their grandchildrensš¤£š¤£
Open a small kirana shop, or evening food court, which they can look after (just some time ).
