Maybe because they have similar offers or know peers who make more.
Maybe they just seek validation like most folks on instagram. Sadly this supersedes any other motive most of the time
18L isn't outrageous in the right context. What's the role? What's the YOE?
But since the OP did not share all these details, it does seem like bragging.
Braggers se zyaada unke baare mein rone waale zyaada hai. 18 base is not too wild if you're smart and make the right moves. One of the right moves is figuring out what's the market like by asking questions on a platform like this. Khud to kuch karna hai nahi aur dusre kare to rona hai.
Bragging on an anonymous platform is pointless. It's entirely possible it is true. But also possible that it isn't 🤷🏻♂️
