Later on person who was handling it, didn't take handover from me rather manager reached out to me directly for review of full area. I said I haven't done full area. He started scolding like I have to have full control of the file even if I received it for small work. 

This I felt odd being the point that iam only temporarily assigned to this assignment.

I'm working as an APM at a startup for about a year now. I work with another guy who happens to be my senior, PM and both of us report to the director.

Of late, my senior, i.e., the PM has been undermining my work when the two of us are working together, subtly taunting me that what I've done is pretty easy and non impactful business wise. He also disregards the decisions made by me, modifies the PRDs discovered and written by me and mails them as his own.

Eventually, he ends up adding me to the walkthrough calls because I had discovered the features but then concludes everything such that he had owned everything end to end.

Recently, both of us were given a documentation to be done by our manager, i.e., the director. I had completed almost 70% of that document, but in our call with the director he presented it saying that he had written that document and I had made a few changes to it.

This undermines my work and visibility of my capabilities. I don't know how to tackle this situation, my manager is usually busy and leaves it upto this PM to allocate work, which he unfairly uses.

How do I talk to my manager about this. I'm fairly new to corporate, just graduated last year and don't know how to handle all this.

But this thing has been bothering me lately, really looking forward to any advise my fellow grapeviners may have.

You definitely need to talk to the director and share your concerns . Possibly separate out projects and independently handle them.

After completing the initial round, I was given only 48 hours to finish a substantial portion of the assignment, which was nearly half of the app. Despite this, I managed to complete it outside of office hours during the week. 

A week after submitting the assignment, I reached out to inquire about the status, and the HR informed me that the team didn't find the assignment up to their expectations. 

When I checked the list of shared profiles within Figma file, I noticed that only my profile was listed. Upon asking the HR about this discrepancy, she mentioned that the team checked the assignment through figma file and they had forwarded my profile to another team (POD) for consideration. 

There is one more company that shortlisted my assignment and then asked for my expectation and eventually ghosted. 

This situation feels frustrating and unfair.

Hi everyone, sorry for the rant in advance!

 So I have recently joined as a consultant and got tagged in a project 2 months back. Given that it was a stress period deployment, the pressure at times has been maddening. Besides, I am a fresher from a not so same background, so I often take a little time more than others in a few matters in grasping things. At times, I am scolded by manager for some minor mistakes which I do not complain about as I consider those as learning steps but sometimes it gets me that despite working for more than 12 hours a day ( not even getting to charge that many hours). Not that I am looking for any easy way out but some constructive suggestions would really help. Thanks in advance.

I developed an API that basically took inputs from a webform and loaded it into Salesforce (I have oversimplified here).  
 While testing , one of the fields was "website", I simply typed "www.rk.com" which were the initials of my pet doggo. 
 The test went well, data got loaded into Salesforce. 
 I then get pinged by the multiple people that rk.com is a porn site and multiple people while verifying the test results ended up clicking on the link and got flagged by the IT security team for watching porn on office laptop🤣 . 
  
 It was an honest mistake nonetheless, but very horrifying for me🙈

I am not depressed because of work or challenges, but only because of my manager.

As soon I was under this new manager in a new project, I didn't knew my life would get so terrible.

1 The project got  complicated because my manager couldn't understand the technical discussions.

2 Team lead was out in the starting itself because of the unethical or disrespectful behaviour of the manager.

3. Whole responsibility came over me. I did my tasks very well and even got appreciation from client side.
I was expecting appreciation from my manager too but instead got an escalation 😞.

Reason by manager::

1.  I don't provide clear status updates
--> reality:: I provide updates on slack,Dsm,jira every day with full clarity.

2. I take Unplanned leaves 
-->reality:: 2 sick leaves only till now (one leave in one month)

3. Lazy and unproductive and many more
--> reality:: I even help my senior with their tasks and who is doing the project then??

In this way, the manager wants to escalate with any way it finds.

When I tried to have a discussion and asked relevant reason, the manager was quite unable to ans.

My rating is also been spoiled 😮‍💨
Even the upper management is with The manager.

We the team of 3 people from which only I am left, both of them being escalated and forcefully resigned from the company.

I am been torchered with this escalations on a regular basis and I don't know how to tackle this situation.😞😞

Quite depressed😔

I have been employed at a service-based company for the past 2.6 years. Recently, I have been assigned to a new project with a different team. However, my manager has been quite demanding and insistent on my physical presence in the office. Additionally, they expect me to participate in video calls for every meeting and ask detailed questions about my work, often focusing on minor details. Unfortunately, the tasks I am currently working on no longer bring me excitement. Moreover, my manager's authoritative behavior is not something I appreciate. I am starting to wonder if I am experiencing burnout, as I have never encountered these issues before. Is this a normal situation, or should I consider seeking a new opportunity? Other than these work-related challenges, everything else seems to be going well.

Its been around a year since I've started working in a service based company as a Frontend dev, WLB, compensation and all is good based on I've just started.
During this year of working I do not feel like I've done anything, our team is working on a product for past 2-3 year and its nearing the completion. My role was mostly to cordinate with testing team and solve frontend bugs and minor addition to the project (which was mostly copy pasting), even doing these minor task took me some time initially and I still have to take help from seniors time to time. 
I got kinda bored with all the repetitive task and I requested my manager to assign me to other development happening within team, he agreed and assigned me some different task but I cant seem to understand anything here, 
I get stuck in the most basic things, I feel stupid when I am not able to come up with easy solutions.

I am seeing other engineers learning new tech stacks in a small amount of time and getting hold of it while i am not able to understand things in my own tech stack.

I've recently gotten a appraisal as well(my company is quite good and gives it to everyone) and I feel like I don't deserve a bit of it.

 I am a 2023 graduate , I did MCA because that was the only good option I could see for myself(mostly cz of money) at that time earlier to that I did a bachelor's (Non CS) without gaining any knowledge of anything.
My basics are not that good, In college my only focus was to get a job so I did DSA and some front-end development using ReactJS(projects mostly code along with ytube) to be able to grab a good placement.

Is software engineering not for me? If no, then how do I overcome this, i don't wanna be a mediocre.

Am I a bad engineer?

What is wrong with the world? Why do thinks like these happen?

2 months down, people have forgotten about McKinsey Consultant's death...

Last year i moved to a product based company from a service based so naturally the first 6 to 7 months were hard on me in terms of not only learning the work culture but also understanding complex systems. Then when i started to get a grab on things i was shifted to a new team. Where it did not take me much time to get a hold of things as i had now understood the nature of my work. But during my annual performance review my manager comes up and tells me that you are being judged for the entire year and he absolutely hammered me in my review. To make matters worse he even told me of a PIP that i was going to be pit into. Now at this point i know that the work is not that difficult for me as i  own a module which i have slogged on for the last 6 months. I feel cheated and sad as my performance is not bad rather it is good. Even he acknowledged that but still he is doing this. What should i do? I have been feeling absolutely gut punched and have lost my confidence i know myself that i had faced problems initially but that was due me trying to figure out how things work but since i was dumped into another team my visibility got 0. He does not even know who i work with or reviews my work, and yet he is adamant on putting me in a PIP. I want to resign and leave. For the last 3 months i have worked for min 10 hours and this is the reward i get for putting in all the effort.

Any suggestions would help

Context - Since Deloitte does not get a lot of projects, they bend over their knees in front of clients and do each and everything like literally peon, clerk jobs too if client asks them to.

I was deployed at a client location 5 days a week and was not giving any specific work to do but was told "Jo client bole wo karna hai". Client was a 24 yr old kid earning 80% lesser than me. He used to hurl abuses in the office, on weekends and even behaved physically inappropriately at times. When I informed the manager, he was like " tumse client handle nahi hora".

Even after raising it to HR, no action was taken and manager also got promotion inspite of being the one aware about everything and not stepping up. I was given way below appraisal than industry and company average and have been pushed aside by the company.

Request help from the community to help me with any openings or jobs in product management role in your company for me to move out of this toxic environment

I have been put on PIP (Performance Improvement Programme) . 

It's a 3 month long thing, I have to show improvement, if I don't, I will be let go. 

They are saying that my technical skills are weak and I need to spend time outside my work brushing up those skills. If I improve then good else they'll let me go. 

Things escalated this much because my team lead complained that because of me, he had to rework certain things in the project which increased the timeline.

And he did this to save himself. He has been working on another task alone by himself since a month. I had no involvement in that, yet he's taking so long himself. To hide his shortcoming as a team lead, he is using me as a shield.

Now my dilemma is, should I focus on proving my worth to the company or should I just keep applying for jobs?

Considering the current market situation, what would be the best way for me to look for jobs?

Today, I received a warning email from the HR stating my performance is slow and they are going to decide on my employment.

I have joined this company very recently, as SDE 2. They are expecting me to complete a 30 day task within 10 days. I got excited and took it. I have been working my ass off, beyond the clock to achieve it. Most of it was new to me, since i don't have professional experience on this particular stack. It took me 6 days to achieve stability and structure of the application. Literally I haven't been sleeping a bit.

Now after 10 days they just shared this email. I really wanted to let this out.

Feeling shitty about performance feedback

Performance appraisal is just a yearly reminder that the employment is at their mercy. Beyond that it's has no meaning full value.  
 As a rule of thumb, one must always crib and complain at their jobs. If it takes 30days , one must say 50 days. If they ask us to complete in 10 days we must cry in front of them and shown tham that we are suffering. That's the only way to survive. Have you seen any ceo come on TV and say "life is good we are going to make a ton of money" no they always say " tough times ahead, recession time" , "perform or perish".. all the usual BS. We should follow our leaders.

I am a BE graduate after college I tried govt exams but  couldn't clear it...after that i learned a software on my own i joined a small company which  trained me little nd projected me as a experienced to a client, i cleared interview and got placed to the client but that project is too complex and even fr small tasks i am taking weeks to complete....daily i feel bad nd humiliated fr not completing tasks and people are not friendly here... Should I see this as an opportunity or this is wrong...will other IT companies to do the same

Six months back I started working on AI based  project which is an R&d from scratch when I completed stage one New people who are higher position than me started working with me to extend it to next phase I felt very happy but the things didn't happened in expected way. I thought they came to me to coloborate and help the project but I came to know at some point that they are just here to showcase the work I did, prepare ppts to explain clients. Moreover project manager showed favouritism by giving liberal tasks or already completed tasks which don't need any research to be done. I didnt focused on this because my focus is learning. I have completed phase 2 on my own which is converting to project, and when I completed it they started asking me to share code and provide KT this made me suspicious, So I didn't shared the code, dragged it for 2 months they tried to achieve by their own it didn't succeed for them so again they started asking me to share knowledge. I know if I share the code and give KT, I will be thrown out from this. They started ghosting me by doing prank calls like whether I am looking for an oppurtunity outside. After some days I decided this not my place to work, my focus should be on skills and solving problems with these politics in my initial stage of tech will not going to help in long run. So I shared and provided KT then next day I am released from the project. After few months I am asked to force resign because of being on bench.

I thinking to share these things to my CEO, along with proofs it upto them to take any action or not. The same thing happened to my colleague in another project. I don't want this to repeat for others.

Need your suggestion on this.

Hi folks, I am a fronted developer with  5+ years of experience in TCS. I am doing well in my previous project but that is complete then I joined another project where I am struggling to do a smaller job as well. I am not sure what's going to happen to me every time I am the only person who always points out even if I make that mistake or not. Even though nothing motivated me, day by day my performance was going down I am feeling tired from this same time I am thinking about leaving the project and searching for something new but they are not releasing me. Due to this I visit the doctor and he says you are in depression and suggest some pills. Nothing motivates me here. Can anyone suggest to me what I do now.

feeling like I am literally in the worst phase of my life. Our company is taking ownership of an abroad project and those abroad folks are not supportive or even if they support us then they give little information so that we can't take ownership. so we freshers have to figure out everything, and now even after figuring out, my manager and higher management asks me anything with respect to the product(features, deployment, anything literally- it's a big & complex project) even though I am a fresher and don't even have the proper knowledge and then ask us to explain to them what we know, and it's literally frustrating to explain to every single guy every single time. Because the manager asks to prepare to explain to him and then to the higher manager and then whenever something is there they keep asking again and again to give a presentation or our ideas about it, but they don't even ask abroad folks when they are the one who is doing the work. I just feel like I can't keep up with this and I want to resign. How to say no to the manager for doing a particular work again and again or should I resign because I am feeling very low right now and still after 1 year it looks like I have wasted the time because I got to write code for maybe 5% and 90-95% feels like college presentation. Every time there's something and they ask the same thing 3-4 times, sometimes it would be give the x info or then y info and like this only  and because of that i can't do the real work or work on new features because the Indian manager and higher officials keep giving extra work which they should ask from US folks. What should I do please suggest

Hi. I got placed in a very good company through my college placement as an intern. Due to large team size they didn't converted me as a full time employee. But then I got call from another team and go through the interview process like technical rounds mangerial round and hr round. I got offer in that team. Initially they gave me recorded KTs and assigned me few courses regarding the product and I completed that. But the problem arises when I am implementing what I learned from KTs and courses. Not all time, but I reach out to people for some clarity nd then I solve the issue. Within a month i was assigned a task which requires assistance from another team which has only two people from india to assist here. So that task took more time than it usually takes for an experienced member. My Manager on one on one speak like reach out to people when you need help, but when I do he speak like why are you wasting whole team time. And I'm the only one who is at the entry level post and others are seniors and they didn't showed any intrest in training or assisting me. So I'm bit worried about asking our for help. But I do resolve customer side bugs not just trouble shooting also the code changes. As the day went of, one day he said like from day one it's a disappointment from you and I really didn't understand what he saw in me in my first day and in the follow up meeting he says like ur performance is not up to the mark. I'm so depressed by those words and waiting for them to terminate me. When I applied for a week leave for my family function he called me in the morning and said you are terminated. And the reason he told me was performance issues. And I really didn't understand that is this a genuine reason? Thoughts on this.....

PS: I got terminated a week back..
