How can you buy a 300 rupees coffee in a country where an average salary is 25000/month?
Most people in this country are on debt in one way or the other. IT companies pay 25000 per month in a city where PG accommodation costs you 10k per month. Government is increasing tax every year for the middle class (which is the majority of the population). So, how can people afford a 300 rupee coffee?
Most people go to Starbucks in an attempt to try something new.

Very true, Starbucks won't last in a competitive and inflationary environment like we have now. Either they change tracks soon, or they exit within 2-3 years.
One can live without premium coffee. And there are many options these days for coffee as well. They don't offer anything that the average Indian consumer wants.

Blue tokai and third wave have better coffees and cheaper
Most brands aren't built for average salary
Nike, Adidas, Apple, Levis etc. etc.
There is a large enough TAM of people who can afford 300 rupees coffee, but unfortunately it stops at some point. Starbucks just can't expand beyond top 20-30 cities today.
Maybe tomorrow.
