How to answer- What is your goal in life?
I have experienced this multiple times when the interviewer asks me, ‘What is your goal in life’ and I do not have a proper answer to that question. Sometimes I say I want to be a manager or something like that; sometimes I say I believe in working in the present, and I don’t worry about the future. But nothing seems to impress the interviewer. What would be the ideal answer to this question?
In a job interview, the senior managers or managers may ask a candidate the question “What’s your goal in life?” Often we tend to give a one-sentence answer. But, that’s not exactly what the interviewer is looking for. Your answer should define your short-term and long-term career plans and skills that align with the company’s vision. Interviewers mostly ask to check if the candidate has an independent career goal or not. To answer this question correctly, you can start with short-term goals like improving your techie or communication skills, followed by long-term goals like defining your career path. You can further integrate how the job position will help you achieve your career path and skills that you’re willing to work on.
