Rant. Chappri Interns and mid af SDEs on LinkedIn have destroyed the entire point of the platform. Every Tier 1 graduate working at Microsoft or Walmart posts their own pic in some Manali hillstation and give 400 lines of unsolicited gyaan, which virgin btech 2nd year students cant help but drool at.

I get it bro/sis, you mugged up 800 LC mediums and Microsoft came to your BITS campus and picked you up because you solved a system design question in the interview which scales infinitely for infinite users. No, i dont want to enroll is PrepCracker's System Design Cohort for just Rs 69,999 and replace Hotstar's CTO.

Folks like Arpit Bhayani and Addy Osmani are the only reason I open linkedin to actually get some ground level reality of how to be a better SWE, but all i see is bhaiyya didi telling me why my resume is not getting selected because i didnt pay Rs. 1,999 for their Topmate Resume Review session.

Due to them Twitter is full of 2nd year dimwits who think swe is the only path to liberation and their bhaiyya didi will be their guiding angel. They won't. They'll turn out just like your average 3.5lpa employee at WITCH. The only way to become a good swe is figure shit out yourself and do what you love. Its that simple. Im from a shit tier 3 college. I've cracked FAANG and that too with 42 lc solved. What DSA bro?

I am a fresher 2023 graduate and have been doing this (applying for jobs) for almost a year, everyone said you have to do internships as it is necessary so did 2 internships one for a year and another for 6 months but apparently no one counts internships as experience even jobs that had 1-3 yoe as requirement and now everyone's hiring 2024 grads as freshers (I tried to look for another internship but there were none during the time of placements).

I am now tired of this field, many full stack devs don't know shit outside Javascript world and many of them can't even use tools like git properly and are so cocky of themselves. 

Saw an SDE on twitter who apparently has 6 years of experience, doesn't even know how to configure multiple SSH and says managing multiple ssh is a downside. A women dev (cause in India you have engineers and female engineers apparently) doesn't know about sidebar cache and calls it a bug and she's in google. and If I try to roast these people with my real name there's a whole cabal of Banglorians who will grab their macbooks inside third wave coffee and start tweeting against me after aggressively drinking their Chocolate mocha frappe.

Just go into any random tech twitter space no one seems to be talking about tech it's always about DSA, interviews, LIFE IN BANGLORE, which cafe they visited.

I let myself believe tech was my passion and worked hard  for but Indian techies and companies are worst, this generation thinks they are better than their predecessor but follow the same politics everywhere even when it comes to Tech communities (who tf does politics in a community that produces open source code wtf).

They talk about networking and creating a community all the time but can't even respond to linkedin cold dm and blame the sender by nitpicking about the format 👏👏 and then they'll go on post the screenshot and rant how it's the sender fault to even try to network with them with a message that isn't written from their own blood.

Bangalore tech scene is weird man. I feel even the auto driver knows how to code and the third wave barista is definitely doing leetcode because that coffee & sandwich clearly don't take 15 minutes to make

I am a middle class guy working as a senior engineer in one of the product companies. I belong from the north-east, and I am the only child in my family. 

Since covid, I was working in a wfh setup. Recently, my company has ended work from home for everyone, and I am supposed to move to Bangalore very soon or quit. 

I am an active user on all social media groups on Reddit, Fb, etc. For the past couple of months after seeing so much of negative news about Bangalore, Especially the high population, skyrocketing rents, the auto unions, corruption, cut-throat competition, discriminative news, traffic issues, etc. It makes me nervous to be honest. My wfh here was pretty chill, and I had a very limited social circle here, but was satisfied since I could spend most time with my mom and dad. 

Im very afraid now about what should I do next, shall I quit the job and search for wfh, or shall I make my move. I don’t have any acquaintances there, no friends, no idea about what I’ll be doing next, how to start house hunting, or job hunting. At this point I am miserable and overwhelmed to think about all of this. 

Anyone who has gone through all of these, If you can share your 2cents, experiences or thoughts, about how you dealt this phase. It will be really helpful for me at this point in my journey. Thanks in advance! 🙏🏻

Hey I have been working in Automotive domain 
and getting like around 80k in-hand. But the work is very pathetic and not really helping me in growth . I am unable to make time to prepare for coding interviews. The thought of giving interviews has created a phobia in me. I apply for socmany roles and get rejected almost everywhere. Even if I get a call , the HR plays with and worn agree for higher budget or what I am expecting, they are ready to give barely 10%. I have to pay 25lakhs home loan who's emis is like 20k per month for my native home. Plus 15k room rent at Bangalore. Then groceries bills etc etc ...every month Expenses are exceeding my income. I am doing 15k investment that is the only thing that I am kind of like saving. I have like 4 lakh fd. That's all I have. I am 25 , and searching for a partner, I feel that the marriage occasion is unaffordable. Also I feel inferior because lot of the girls are expecting foreign settled boys. I feel like a complete failure . I am really passionate about music career and given performance at college . Offlate I haven't given much shows and I love performing...but I have a question whether I can make a living out of it or with that money is it possible for me to come out of debt and at the same time service all the expense ? I also dream of owning a car and a decent 2 bhk house with good parking space . How do I make all this possible? Currently I feel my performance is at an all time low and I feel something will go upside down in career. Also are there any other ways to earn good money other than corporate in Bangalore? Only thing I am good outside IT is making music playing piano music composition. The problem is I am also kind of shy and feel inferior when trying to approach people asking for any gigs or to socialise. I find it hard to get comfortable initially or to start that new connection.. but once I am in I feel very confident. I don't know what force is stopping me . Please help me.

I don’t get the narrative of most south states to force their language on others. I mean people from different states in the north speak different native language i.e Punjabi, Haryanvi etc but still they can do the conversation in Hindi. 

Most of the people from Bangalore always come with the phrase “Go back to your state”. Someone please tell them that we are living in their state as we don’t have much choice. 

Also, almost 70% of their employment comes from people like us.

IT companies should expand their operations in cities like Gurgaon, Hyderabad and Noida.

What do you guys think about this unwelcoming nature of some local bangalore people?

I am currently in process of sourcing reports doing location study for GCC, R&D and ITS setup for foreign clients.

Till now, this language imposition issue was discussed in corridors and never included in official reports when discussing location strategy. But its changing now and situation will only deteriorate from here if there are any more language riot or hooliganism. 

Other state govt officials now openly quote such news to foreign company leaders and why shouldn’t they as it’s competition to get more business and jobs and your competition is making self goals.

Thoughts ? I feel this will backfire badly

I moved to Bangalore earlier this year. Like the weather, like the people, like the breweries. All good. 
But what is even up with the Bandhs that happen in this place? I feel like there have been at least 5 since I moved in. 

For being India's "Silicon Valley", just these disruptions in operations are not very good. For the pure tech companies, it's not too bad. But when trying to execute something operational in nature, it's much much more tougher. 

For the larger companies, they have learnings and experiences across covid etc, and have a larger #operating partners who can help them out in cases of downtime. The smaller ones are caught figuring out.

Of course, in some way it's not a very big deal. We've learnt from worse times. But it's just that I've not seen this happening as much in Mumbai/Delhi.

I'm currently a Data Analyst with 6 months of experience. I would like to get into AI/ML and Robotics field.

Planning to transition from my current role next year. I'm not sure whether I should become a Software engineer (preferably Backend) or ML Engineer or some Data Science role.

I'm currently in Bangalore. Open to relocating to any state (or even country).

In the longterm, I want to do something that has both software and hardware in it.

Please explain your advice if you can afford some time.

What do you dislike about Bangalore?

In my org people have been creating that vibe where they are very sophisticated about their actions, the way they speak etc, they behave like we are working in a US based startup where they are using western lingo and all together a different way to communicate. I have worked in other startups in other cities but didn’t find this type of culture. Is this common or am I missing something?

What are your thoughts?

A simple explanation is that people live in their little bubble.
