Hello Everyone, 

I am a 2018 BTech (NIT) pass out and  2022 IIM pass out with a total of 2.2 years of Workex (1.2 yrs post-MBA) and currently working as an Associate Product Manager. I am not really enjoying my role and I feel Product Management is not suitable for me because of multiple reasons some of them being,


1. I am doing issue resolutions rather than problem-solving which I love to do.

2. I am not very much interested in driving technical discussions or solving technical challenges in the process of Product Development which is the case in my current role. 

3. I want to be part of a Business role where I can leverage the knowledge I have gained during my MBA and work on some problem statements related to the core businesses of the company. 

4. There is no skin in the game of a PM compared to Devs, QAs, and Designers. As a PM I feel I am just delegating, prioritizing, and following up with the requirements. Most of my learnings are around managerial aspects and not business knowledge. 

5. I want to be a part of business roles where I can go deeper into problems and come up with my recommendations/thoughts on them. 

I am looking for new roles where Strategy, Analysis and Core Business Problem solving are involved. I am really not sure what kind of roles are these. 

Please help me with the roles I can explore and how to approach the job search for such kinds of roles.

Need Advice - Job Role Switch.

Huh! So i resigned from my job without any job offer. I am not sure if this is right/wrong, dumb decision maybe but i was at my saturation point. I joined this organisation as APM in April 2024 and resigned in September end, almost a 6 months of journey. This was a fast faced startup with a lot of micromanagement and toxicity. My manager was an asshole. There was a time when i was filling time sheets which was just to justify my manager. Imagine a product manager filling time sheet who is already involved in multiple small and large discussion with tech,qa, marketing, operations etc. The shift was of 9 hours and he asks me to stretch to 10 hrs sometimes as he as a bad habbit of same. There is much more. One day due to an instance i decided to resign without any job offer. My family did supported me which also gave me the confidence to do so. I don’t know what to say to next companies. When will I get a new job. Just wanted to share this somewhere and thought of putting it up here. Open for all your thoughts and comments. Also,Let me know if anybody could help me in any referrals😅preferably in Delhi ncr- Hybrid/wfh.

I currently do not enjoy my job, constant stress  anxiousness, can't work here for another day.

Planned to do my MBA and preparing for CAT this year and also putting my papers down in a couple of days. Considering I have my exam on the 26th of next month, how long should I keep my  notice period? I'm planning not to work at all once I resign, as the company hasn't been good to me. I can keep my notice a week, but then again I won't have a job in hand and will lose work ex. Need some valuable advise here.

I am deeply worried, to the extent of feeling depressed, about my career trajectory. I feel I made a mistake by switching tracks via doing an MBA with 10 yrs exp. I was a QA for a decade and tried a lot to break into PO roles( worked in a product based org on mobile apps for 6 years). It did not work and the director of PM advised me to do the one year fulltime MBA. Not sure why I gave in to his advice, but I gave GMAT and began with an 18 month Full time program at a Tier-1 Bschool. Cracked placement in the first go but got into IT services( not in WITCH), and now I am stuck being a PMO for a client.
Even when I look at my resume, I see a crappy profile, everything is disjointed and makes no sense now. No wonder I get no calls.
I don't want to go back to QA, this Project Management work is shitty( cannot see any learning happening, but the client is happy so I'm stuck in this project. )
I want to move to PM, thinking maybe CSPM can help, not sure where I am headed. 
Any guidance for this middle aged dinosaur 😞

What to do after 13yrs of IT Experience

I have 5+ years of total experience - 3+ years of BA (business analyst) + Sr BA experience and a year of Product Manager 2 experience. Then I started my own venture.

I'm thinking about switching back to the product manager role as my firm is not working as per the expectations and product development & growth marketing is something I genuinely enjoy working on.

I need some advice from you all - how can I justify my 'employment gap'? 
What should I tell (or rather hide) about start-up failure?
What should be my approach while applying for PM openings? Where should I start?
I have graduated from an IIT, how can I leverage that?

I know some of these questions would sound noobish, but I really don't have much experience in switching careers.

I want to quit my job and take a break. 

I Have been contemplating to do the same for almost an year but decided not to do it. So many things have happened since then

1. Layoff wave started in india
2. Got married
3. Had to move back to bangalore from hometown

Reason I want to quit is I don't feel like working , feeling bored and work doesn't interest me that much. 

I want to take a break chill for a bit but don't have guts to do the same considering market conditions ( what if I don't get a job when I am back in the market😅) 

Please give any advice on how to tackle this situation or if someone has gone through the same, would love to hear your experience. 

Also how is the product hiring currently in India? 

PS:  I do have a good runway for 4-5 months considering all expenses but I am scared to take the step

I am currently working at an early stage startup as a software engineer and have been working here since around couple of years full time and an internship prior to that. I am getting a decent salary and the work environment is also good.

But While I write this, I have started feeling stagnated and bored at work and feel that I am not growing in career. This is one reason that has led to me start slacking off at work and take long time to complete tasks.😓

However, I don't want this to continue and thus am here for advice. I am trying to apply to various companies but only to receive rejections. Not even getting an interview call. I am planning to prepare for MBA and the exam is in November. But since folks usually prepare for MBA alongwith job so it means I should continue my job if I want to do so which is another problem for me. I am even confused if I want to an MBA since only the product management role out of it attracts me and not the consulting/investment banking once. So I am not sure if I should even do an MBA. 😒

I discussed this with my parents and they asked me to leave job and prepare for UPSC. Honestly, I have some interest in the exam and the job is great as well no doubt but being 26 years old I am not fully sure of taking this call  since it involves a lot of risk.

All this has been causing lot of conundrum in my brain and it would be really helpful if anyone can suggest any things that I am missing out or that can be simplified.🙏

Currently depressed to a point that I have no energy doing anything. Need help.

I need some advice. 

1. I am a fresher and am considering giving the CAT exam this year. 
2. Currently working as a data science intern and frankly, not enjoying it a bit. I dread debugging. I also feel everyday that AI can easily do 75% of my work. 
3. I want some business side roles, thinking I won't have to stare at a screen all day, fixing bugs. 

What roles can I expect after doing a MBA, is it worth the extra 2 years and the money, and if you are someone who can relate to my situation, what are some of the things you enjoy about your work and some things which you absolutely hate.

Worked for a not particularly prestigious company as a developer for a few years before doing an MBA and moving into product management. Tier 1 institutes all the way through. I've been a product manager for 3 years now, in some pretty reputed companies.

At this point, I feel like the product management role is just not for me - I do not get job satisfaction out of it. The work is not particularly interesting or challenging, and talking to people all day feels like a chore. Its no fun to be creating random reports for leadership based on wherever the winds of the day blow. Plus tbh, I could be making far more money if I had remained a developer. Just cannot see myself doing this kind of work 10 years down the line.

Thinking of applying for some dev roles - it'll take some practice, but I could probably crack senior developer interviews. 

What does the community think? Is there stigma for people who ditch product roles for development roles? Are there people who even do this? Am I being realistic about this?

Hi All, would love to hear your thoughts/ideas/strategies on how to switch from a Senior Customer Success Manager role to a Product/ Project Manager role.
