Time tracking as in what sense? Sorry I am a bit confuses cause where I work we track for whatever work we do and it's not like the time tracker is automatic, it only starts after we click on it and we can also pause the time tracker and keep on working

So whenever one starts a project, they are expected to track time for that project (manually) via HubStaff.  
  
 As the others have pointed out, I do not like this one bit. As apart from tracking time, this software also captures screenshot of what you're working on.

If the company allows WFH, then they will track, and it will be invisible. From company perspective, this is unavoidable due to risks involved.

My current company used HubStaff for time tracking. I don't know what is the norm in other service based companies so wanted to know the same.

I heard many of the Companies offering WFH/Remote/Hybrid have been using time and employee activity tracking software since Covid.

A few of them take screenshots on a periodic basis, monitor clicks per hour, option to view any employee's screen on live basis , tracking and reporting time spent on non-work websites.

Please do name the Company for awareness.

Curious to know who else have biometric or online based attendance tracking in the org. 
For a stealth startup of 20-30 guys, the CEO/HR seems to have introduced biometric based attendance tracking. Unless you’ve logged 9 hours in office. You’ll not get get any attendance. Am I alone in calling this out as a dumb fuck move for a company of such size?

Why is these bs time tracking softwares being introduced? What's the need for it when the employee is working on the assigned task and completing it before deadlines. 

Suppose, if we are doing the assigned work way before the EOD, then why do we need to stick to the screens just for tracking our clicks?
Any counters for this mechanism?

Hey guys, I am in the interview process for a Data Scientist/Analyst position for Turing(dot)com (mostly for one of their clients). So the role is to work on validating LLM responses and some analysis on that to make the LLMs better.

I gave a machine DSA coding test and an interview a week ago (which consisted DSA questions and Data Analysis and Data Science questions), and the HR ghosted me for a week and then called today to set up another round for tomorrow.

I have seen some reviews which bash Turing and a lot & lottt of 100% positive reviews which look like they have been written by a LLM itself or someone on a gunpoint wrote it.

Does anyone here know if its worthwhile because Turing pays a lot but I would have to deny my other job offers for this.

So I was working wfh since past year and recently shifted to a project after a promotion, it’s a nice project and something I was looking forward to work with, but now my reporting manager says that you have to clock atleast 8 hours daily at this tracking software ( Nippon Buddy ). 
And I’ve to report to office 12 days a month, that’s okay but this 8 hours capture time is kinda nuts. 
Do you guys have these kinda policy as well or is it just at service based companies ?

So, I joined this company located in Delhi last year from Bangalore as a permanent WFH employee. Initial 6 months were fine, even though I was aware they had pre-installed tracking software called "Teramind" while sending  the laptop! But in the last 3 months the work culture or environment has completely flipped and turned into Toxic.

First they made us install a remote tracking software called "Hubstaff"  which tracks keyboard and mouse activity and time, and takes 4 screenshots every 10 minutes.

Then they made it compulsory 8 hours a day excluding any break like lunch or tea.

This month they tied work hours with Salary and started deducting the entire day's pay even if you are short by like half an hour!  

Almost all employees know they need to leave but are kinda stuck due to the current job market situation.

I'M thinking of quitting without finding another job now, I'm just mentally tired and frustrated with the situation I find myself in. All my emotional energy is spent, I just don't know what to do😞

how do you guys track expenses? I need to simply know how much I spent since my salary last credited. Where was it spent ..etc

I just read the  bank statement of my salary acc at the end of the month. This feels like manual effort. I wish my bank provided a better approach so that we can track these on the fly. But afaik none of the large banks in India have a built in feature in their app to do this.

My current CTC is 7.7 with around 2+ YOE. Received an offer with a sort of startup owned by a private equity that is giving a 20% hike + bonus not included in the CTC. My current role sucks, there's not any coding involved, it's mostly just using a third party software to make small changes here & there and I don't think it will help me in the future, though the work culture and perks are really good (hybrid mode lots of holidays barely 4-5 hours of work). The new role will include coding which is what I want to do and from the discussion I had with the hiring team it will be a challenging role compared to my current. 

However, this will be my 3rd company and I'm not sure how recruiters will look at it since I am currently working in legacy tech and want to switch to a different stack in the future and I will probably have to stay at least a year here. The new company also mentioned that they use tracking software only while you WFH though you can do WFO too which is a red flag for me. 

I'm really confused. The hike isn't much but the extra money will help but the lack of the freedom while WFH and the long hours are making me think and the fact that I would have to stay atleast a year in this role to not be seen as a serial hopper to recruiters when I want to switch tech stack. But then again I don't see any future growth in my current org even with all its perks and it just feels like im rotting away my early 20s not doing any "meaningful work" or gaining any skills.

I see a lot of posts about WLB, I want to know what do you consider as a decent WLB. I will go first.

1. Leave early if the work for that day is done
2. No pings and calls post work hours, there are always exceptions and thats okay, should not become a norm
3. Respecting when someone is in vacation and not disturbing them.
4. Not rejecting leaves 

I will add more in comments If more comes to my mind.

I get it, productivity matters, but so does sanity. I'd rather have the freedom to get my work done without feeling like I'm being spied on. As long as I get work done on time. Does it matter how much hours I put in?

Everytime I login I feel like I am being watched. 
This is making me go insane.

Seriously, Can we get rid of the Employee Tracking Nonsense?

If all they want is to measure number of hours peole are online and key strokes.  People who are online entire day doing nothing will get incentivised.

Hi, I am working in a early stage startup and our CEO has established the culture of transparency where he shares every update regarding company funding, customer sales, revenue and answers all questions within company but one thing that has been bugging me is his micromanaging. 


He has integrated a bot in slack which ask for what did you do yesterday ? and what are you going to do today ? , Everyday


He also managed a spreadsheet of our tasks and takes the exact estimate in days makes a calendar view there and keeps asking up to update on our tasks progress in multiple meetings or on chat. 


I didn't had such experience in prior companies but he mentioned, such things were being followed in NyKa, DineOut, etc as well 

Does the well known companies like Phonepe, Uber, Zomato, google, amazon, Microsoft, De shaw, sprinklr follow this as well ? 

I just wanna check, is he doing too much or it this a standard in Indian companies ?

So, this company I have an offer from seems great culture wise. I asked some members for red flags and they said its a software they use that tracks them for 8 hours and takes screenshots every 10 minutes. I have no experience working in companies with this implementation earlier. Can anyone shed some light on whether this may be a deal breaker or not? Heard mix responses from current employees that it’s hard to clock 40-42 hours a week and takes away our personal freedom. What are the thoughts?
