It seems employee referrals are not working these days
I arranged employee referrals from Microsoft , Visa , Arcesium , Walmart but no response came not even rejection its almost 1 month. Is there any other trend prevailing in market? Or more precisely Am I approaching in the wrong way?
I even doubt most of the open positions are real or not. The companies that setup recently in India would have real open positions I presume.
I've heard from recruiters in Flipkart and Microsoft that many times they forget to delist the opening once it gets filled. Also, sometimes they intentionally keep it open to build potential candidate database since there's always someone resigning.
Employees referrals won't work in companies like Apple, Microsoft , etc. Unless the person contacts the hiring manager and recommended you personally, these referrals seldom lead to interviews.
I believe referrals are no longer effective because people get referrals pretty easily from fishbowl, online platforms without actually knowing the person. This makes the referral pool similar to regular pool, given the less conversion ratio because of this, companies have started taking referrals with less priority as compared to earlier times.
The kind of actual referral that works when someone would personally speak to hiring manager and put a good word for you. Which i think is actually referring someone.
The concept of referrals via fishbowl, etc due to greed of referral bonus has caused this mode of recruitment almost useless or less effective.
However one should keep on trying with referrals as it might just work sometime.
Rest, i guess best effective method is to use connects, explore and understand open roles in companies you are targeting and then reaching out to HRs and hiring managers on LinkedIn to further explore and get an interview.
Everyone is aware of referrals these days. You arent the only one getting referral. Theres a large pool of referred candidates so that makes referral pretty useless unless small/midcap startups
Referral usually works great in case of startups. Everyone takes referral for a big tech, so application count still remains huge.

Can DM me, several openings at Highspot in Hyderabad location. Someone rightly said, newly setup offices are more willing to hire currently. Look up on the careers portal and let me know if you find anything that matches.
Hey can you DM me, I am looking for a role but don't have enough likes to DM.

I know a guy who applied for Microsoft in mid July and got a response from the recruiter at the end of October.
I wasn’t paid for 2 referrals at an edtech company I worked for. At my exit, they just ignored my emails on this. Since then the company like byju’s had to fire people to just survive. No pmf. Companies that scam the referrer really led to people not taking a vested interest in a friend’s referral.
Referrals does not ensure interview. There are many people in line these days. It's companies market. Things will change before next year 2025 and 2026 if AI does not become too strong to eat much of the engineers job.
Bhai agar employee referral bhi nhi kaam karte to companies hire kaise karti hai
Referral hardly works any more in corp, unless the profile is directly shared with the HM and a word is put on.
There is a lot to it. I recently had a conversation with recruitment specialist in my org about this. She explained me. Right now the market is not doing good for so many reasons, plus there is some hierarchial trend also. Like if you refer some one for some position. At the same position there is someone else referred by some senior for that same position, then he/she is more likely to get the call. And many more things are there
General Employee referral doesn't work, unless it is to the hiring manager, and that too the referring person has a good relationship with the hiring manager
I was able to arrange a referral from MTX in July and got a call yesterday.
Referral only works when you are directly interacting with HR or with Hiring Manager.
