Job offer from Unacademy
I recently received an offer from Unacademy and I'm curious about whether it's a good company to join. Are the pay rates competitive and how is the work culture?

grapevine can have a dedicated link for corporate reviews. It can act a s single source for people looking for reviews on various companies. Questions keep repeating. Considering that there is no monetary value in collecting grapes, this repeat question/posting is starting to make things stale.
- Nothing against you, your query might be genuine. But edtech has been taken up an dusted enough. You probably were not able to find old links/queries/answers on this subject.
Since you asked - Edtech is a shit hole. or you can say the corporate equivalent of a public toilet. You use it there only when the alternative is to shit in your pants. If you can hold it . please hold.
Pay rates are good but work environment is slow and toxic. Slow meaning approvals are slow+ senior managers are slow.
Btw 2 Cofounder might have quit, news will come out in December.
One of HRs also quit &there's hardly anyone in office.
You'll have no increment or growth here if you aren't a senior manager ka chamcha. No work metrics hence no proper promotions either. A lot of other issues too.

They were offering me a senior manager role even though the conversation started from AD/Director. They cited no prev job experience as a reason. Does a senior manager has enough growth there?

It depends on where you are coming from. If you could give more details about your experience, it would be better.
In general, the work culture does not have a good reputation. However, IMO this is if you compare it to how it was before. The culture has deteriorated a lot compared to how it was even a year back, but its not necessarily bad, especially compared to other startups. I would say a lot depends on your manager and team. There are definitely bad people in power there, but as long as you dont report to one of them, your experience can still be decent. I had a good manager, and hence I didn't suffer very much. The hours can be long though. And a lot of decisions are taken at the top and you wont have any say in them, which can be frustrating. The top can also be very disrespectful and dealing with them can be a very unpleasant experience. But again, this depends on your role and team. If you're dealing directly with the top, I personally would avoid it, but your mileage may vary. At present, the only motivation to work there would be money. And whether their offer is good enough depends on you, your role and your experience. Depending on your background, you may or may not learn new things. If your're passionate about Edtech, or you want a career in it, it can be a decent experience.
Also, the "top" refers to one particular person.
