Just hate the topmate

The platform has made every intern a Leadership coach; charging ₹2999/- for each session.

The platform should have at least some decency to verify who is trying to become a mentor.

At least put 7-8 years of the minimum requirement to become a Mentor or Coach! 😅

Everyone is out there to earn a quick buck. I used to mentor folks because I really wanted to give back.

We are trying to solve this with Pearmock.com

What is your business model? How does a mentor earns?

BubblyPretzel

We have 5 levels. At each level, you unlock some incentives on the platform. 4th level is where the user gets to monetise their profile.

...we are building a product management city! ...with it's own economy! The best game out there for product managers to learn, grow, find opportunities and earn!

Sadly this platform doesn't allow me to post images in comments, else I would have shown you what's cooking.

Would like to know more about why you hate topmate? Can I book a topmate meeting to discuss?

😂

Yeah before that remove everyone from your platform who is less than 5 YoE & claims to be a mentor or coach!

Then I guess it drops down to 1 mentor! The founder Ankit itself.

What can be sold, will be sold.

It’s surprising that any person would pay 3k for a mentorship session without even checking the credentials and proof of work.

Also paid mentorship is such a red flag. The best mentors out there are invested in your growth for the joy of it.

Hmm, wait till you see a 3rd year CS grad selling PM mock interview sessions. 😂 Folks from WITCH are paying ₹2100 for such mock sessions.

Free mentoring is also a scam; I don’t believe any Principal/Director or VP would give me his/her 45 minutes for free. 🤷‍♂️

QuirkyPotato

It doesn’t have to be a principal or director or VP. It can be anyone who has the right experience to show you the way

I don't get it , I'm a product deisgners nearing 2 years experience, and I see people with one years experience, who haven't built entire product coming and being mentors in this platform..

I used to think it would take 6 years to become really good at what u do and become a worthy senior.

Y do people go there when there is adplist

Who is even taking consultations from these guys! Most of them boast their achievements to gain traction or advertise Xyz product cohort on their linkedin profiles

You don’t have to pay. It’s a free market. Do your own research before you spend money!

You know you can choose not to pay and select who you like right. That's called a free market.
The guy who is just a fresher might be useful for a guy in college

No. They just need to add a simple counter showing how many people have booked a session. Some folks just put up random prices like 5k for an hour for the fuck of it. They know that nobody is dumb enough to pay. It is just to create an illusion that their time is valuable. Ironically if their time was actually valuable they would not be creating a fucking topmate mentor account.

I hate the concept of Paid mentorship Sessions

So, just to be clear, I have no grudges against the people, but basically I don't like the core idea of doing a paid "guidance or mentorship" session. Examples being career guidance or famous resume reviews on Topmate

See, The very basi...
