I am a 26/M/60+LPA/IITian Software Engineer at a FAANG. I have spent most of my time travelling places with my friends/solo and have dedicated a significant portion of my small life to my career, and I am quite happy with it. I am confused about one thing tho, should I get married? given I am happy living like this, I just want to hear what men have to say on this, I want to know given a chance would you guys get married? If yes how to check if a woman is a fine fit for you? I made a rule to only date a woman who makes at least 70% of my salary OR has an excellent academic background AND should be humble. With these set of rules the chances of finding a girl is almost slim to none given ratio at good colleges and at high paying tech jobs are like that 🤧, I am sure people won't find these rules good, but I want to know if I am being stupid pls correct me it will help me reshape my thinking.

I recently got married, it was an arranged marriage. We both are polar opposites. I dont go around telling my family or her family about our day to day affairs. But she gives full report of my life and my family's affairs to her family. During both family get togethers, I come to know that she has given complete info of my life. Her extended family also knows my complete life routine/friends/finances, etc. 

I brought it to her notice already but seems she still informs them everything. How do I have this conversation with her and make sure I am able to build trust with her?

As a working professional, we spend most of our time in the cities far away from families and once we get married, priorities further change to career, wife, children etc

Personally for me : Talk to them for 15 mins at least every alternate day to make them feel loved and heard.

My fiancé’s pay is 3x mine. And I feel guilty for not being able to scale up to a respectable pay or career advancement. This is my capacity - I am slow paced and a late bloomer in everything in my life. I feel like I don’t deserve a fiancé with 3x pay as mine and could find someone better than me as I was questioned by my fiancé about my career trajectory. I keep wondering in what way I can contribute my share once we settle. How will I do 50/50 because it doesn’t seem possible to do that. I will have to cut back on all my wants before things turn sour between us due to this financial imbalance. I don’t want money to get in the way of our relationship. I don’t know if anyone feels this guilty for not being able to contribute financially towards their married life. Or am I overthinking all this in my mind. It takes a hit at my self esteem when I see my friends/family around being able to achieve this financial equilibrium with their spouses. It makes me feel inadequate and not as empowered.

I recently got married. It was an arranged marriage. We both work in corporate. Our lives have been different, I enjoy techno music, having good conversations, meeting new people, wearing good clothes, according to occasion. But she is my opposite, she is very conservative and old school. She has no sofistication or elegance, whereas i am sofisticated. Anyone meeting us for the first time can tell we are polar opposites.

We have nothing in common to do or talk about.

Fairy Tale Expectations -

Movies and novels set unrealistic expectations for marriage. People expect a perfect life and avoid dealing with real problems together. Thanks to internet - Real life communications made it more complicated

Individualism - Selfishness:

Building a strong marriage takes lot of compromises and time together. Many people love to spend their time with ofc colleagues, but refuse spend with family. Two jobs in single family, built a confidence that money can save you from all problems

Too Many Choices:

Thanks to internet and dating apps which made it easy to meet new people. This literally gives  confidence to leave relationships without fear of being alone for lifelong.

Bad Habits:

Alcohol, weed, and drugs are normalized, but they destroy a person’s inner self. When you lose yourself to these habits, it’s hard to be a good partner because it gives you confidence to do every shit

Late Marriages:

Marrying at older age often means having rigid mindsets. It’s harder to adapt and change, which can hurt the relationship.
