I got laid off from dunzo, in the mail they mentioned JB won’t be recovered even if people were for <1 year. It might differ company to company so suggest to ask your HR.

Let’s say I leave a company after 2 months. What would happen if I don’t return their joining bonus.

They have a clause in offer letter that says I should return the amount if I leave before a year.

Basically had to leave the company due to weird company culture and frequent change in the roles.

Just wondering, say if you join a company and they grant you $40,000 dollars worth of RSUs. These are unvested and 6 months later they do mass layoff and your role is eliminated. 
What happens to those RSUs? Do they provide accelerated vesting and give you those shares or will it expire?

It's been a month now accepting the offer letter, only 15 days remaining till I join the new company, can the recruiter now decrease my compensation again if he knows my company is going to do a layoff round?

Do high salaried folks generally targeted even if they have good performance and history with company ?

With the overall bleak atmosphere in startup ecosystem and lack of transparency in this process from employers wanted to know how are decisions made. Most say it is performance based in news, how true is that ?

Why do they not transfer some of the to-be laid-off employees to the other divisions?

1. some people are pressured into resigning under the guise of poor performance, despite years of dedication.
2. sudden demand for employees to work from the office on specific days, hinting at wanting people to quit on their own.
3. layoff happening as reported by media (and internal group on grapevine), still unclear on how deep the cut will be can be from 20% or above; numbers are speculative, lets wait and watch, many have started getting the calls from HR; shabbily handled.

Hey Folks,
I recently got a job offer from a US based finance company. They do not have any subsidiary in India and outsource the IT half to a team here, which I will be a part of. The organization specified that this will be a contract based role, and that either party may terminate it with no prior notice.

Is it a good idea to join this organization?  The pay is very good, almost 4x my other offers, but I am worried about job stability and the perks i lose if I am not an employee.

Are contract based jobs a safe bet?

In your experience, what are some early signs that help detect incoming layoffs at a startup?

 It could be company-wide, team specific or in a particular function only.

Heard of some layoffs happening in the OCI division. None reported so far has anything to do with performance, but rather a reduction in force.

I have worked in two startups as backend engineer and here I only did the given work and didnt proactively contribute much to the products. I have been given promotion to SDE 2 without any salary hike. I recently got laid off and I feel like I am not eligible for SDE 2 interviews. I can clear dsa rounds but suck in design rounds.  I got a job with same salary at a service based company and I am thinking to join and then prepare to be better at design. is it a good decision? should I join it?
