I have been working as a full-stack developer past 2 years and now in onsite since 3 months. Based on my performance they were happy and called me onsite since our project is going live in 3-4 months. 

I have been completing whatever tasks have been given to me and asking for more tasks once I complete them. I did work on weekends and completed the work irrespective of the tight deadlines. Now the manager communicates to me via a senior person that my performance is going negative out of a sudden and I didn't meet their expectations and need to work more proactively. I repeatedly asked him based on what parameters they came to this conclusion, he simply said take this as a positive feedback and work towards it, without telling the actual reason for this review.

What should I do : take a release while the live implementation because this might affect my career prospects.

I recently transitioned from an intern to a FTE in a startup. I'm working on a SaaS product as an APM.

I have been taking up a lot of work, interacting with devs, QA, designers but neither do I feel that my manager notices what all I'm working on, nor does he seem satisfied by my work. (All my PRDs need to be refined 3-4 times 😢).

I'm afraid of negative reviews and more about the job itself. I rejected 2 of my campus offers, one of them being at an IB, to join this startup, but things don't seem to be going that great.

Workload is not an issue, I'm willing to take up more things, atleast as of now, but I feel that my manager doesn't let me pick more items as he feels that I'm not performing upto the mark writing the PRDs.

Could you guys please help me with it? I actually need some guidance around the same.

Last year i moved to a product based company from a service based so naturally the first 6 to 7 months were hard on me in terms of not only learning the work culture but also understanding complex systems. Then when i started to get a grab on things i was shifted to a new team. Where it did not take me much time to get a hold of things as i had now understood the nature of my work. But during my annual performance review my manager comes up and tells me that you are being judged for the entire year and he absolutely hammered me in my review. To make matters worse he even told me of a PIP that i was going to be pit into. Now at this point i know that the work is not that difficult for me as i  own a module which i have slogged on for the last 6 months. I feel cheated and sad as my performance is not bad rather it is good. Even he acknowledged that but still he is doing this. What should i do? I have been feeling absolutely gut punched and have lost my confidence i know myself that i had faced problems initially but that was due me trying to figure out how things work but since i was dumped into another team my visibility got 0. He does not even know who i work with or reviews my work, and yet he is adamant on putting me in a PIP. I want to resign and leave. For the last 3 months i have worked for min 10 hours and this is the reward i get for putting in all the effort.

Any suggestions would help

I work as a SDE1, and have been working on a new project, and I get it the deadlines and all but this senior have been pushing commits on my PR. I get it I'm a noob but they could leave comments or maybe get on call.

Even yesterday this dude pushed refactor commits, it's soo irritating as I have to go through his changes and tbh refactoring is fine but he doesn't have to change everything whatever he finds better.


Talked to my manager, he mentioned its fine but not everytime.

Ps: yeah ik it helps me to leaen but it's damn irritating.

I resigned capgemini in the last week of April. This was my first computer of my career. But I faced to much difficulties in this organisation. The Manager as well as the HR and team members were not at all good . They ruined all my career, did not approve any privileges leaves, the working culture was also not good at all I have to work 2 hour more than the shift timing and at last when it was time for my first career review and hike, My manager gave me the worst remarks and ruined and broke my hopes. He gave me need performance remarks kad gave me 1.5 % hike. In the last when I resigned he gave me the worst remarks like need performance, need soft skill training, need to work on his communication skill, need to come office 12 days a month and many more. Now I am serving notice period and searching for opportunities.

For the past few days, my manager isn't involving me in any major work. I send my work, but he doesn't review it and leaves it seen zoned.

He's been giving negative feedback as well. What should I do, I have just graduated this year and am afraid that I might not do well going ahead too. I'm working as an APM.

He even remarked that he wouldn't have hired a candidate, had he solved the problem the way I did.

Could anyone suggest what to do? I'm feeling very tensed.

So I work in a new york based startup and they hired me as project manager. I am from tech bg with 1 year of experience and no mgmt experience. Completing 2 years in this company and have created processes from scratch to increase team size and team dynamics. There was one conversation which HR heard out of context and started politics with CEO. Now in my review their "trust" overshadowed my "performance". They even out of nowhere telling my leaves were not judiciary! Now i don't trust this company anymore. Already my managers were too underperforming and disappointing. 

There were many scenarios where I took in charge of anyone's absence and even in my absence took care of things. 

They giving NO raise !!! Not even something to match inflation!

I am feeling very exhausted with company's policy and CEO being nosy in each and everything. And too disappointed in company's "trust" definitions.

Talked to my manager and cleared out my performance. Talking to CEO in next days to reclarify their issues. 

Any help or word of advise???

Disappointed after overperformance!!

The job market has not been good for the last 12-15 months, but organisations around are offering good severance to their employees and aiding them for their next steps. But UC conducts "performance reviews" twice a year, which is basically a platform for managers to wage a personal vendetta against the "low performers"(read: people who don't suck up to them). And hence, they strategically 'ask people to leave', in return of making sure that terms like 'fired', 'laid off' would not be associated with them. So, people put in their papers, and serve the one month notice without working, and get that salary as their 'severance'. 

Leadership team goes on to boast the fact that there hasn't been any layoffs in the company. Well, fair, because one needs to own the fact that they've laid people off, and funnily enough one of the UC values is 'ownership', and managers do OWN the indifference to the sudden absence of a certain team member from meetings. 

Apparently, people perform fine till the time these half yearly reviews are conducted, because there isn't any concern about their performances in the regular one-on-ones with the managers, but cometh the review, cometh the concerns with performance. Managers nit pick over employees not responding within 15 minutes to their messages. Also, there isn't a 360° view of performance, so your peers, who work much closer to you don't have a say in your performance.

UC brags a 'meritocratic' culture, and rightly so, where ones merit is their ability to show their work as 10x of what it actually is, appearing to be busy with a completely packed calendar, and always saying yes to whatever manager says, even if it means bending over backwards for them.

What’s the best way to approach a performance review?

Im a tech lead and Im average when it comes to deliveries.

I was removed from a project after 5 months because of non-performance and a non-technical manager.I got a negative review in my first iCount.

I got shifted to another project within 2days.

This is my first year at Infosys which will get over in September. Current manager is also non technical and is always pressurizing. I have 9y of experience. 
There is work on weekends also mostly in this project.

I would want a work life balance project,but there is no choice of being a chooser in Infosys is what I know.

But I don't want to leave Infosys as I have made lot of switches. I want to excel but at the same time want work life balance and onsite.

Every day the day ends and as I am about to leave, i feel like i am wasting my time and day at this company. I am a backend developer  and they are having me write automation testing (I started it for them). I see developers around getting new modules to work but for me it is only browser.find_element. I asked CTO and CPO and they said CEO wants me to do automation for sometime.

I have been trying to apply at places but getting no response from anywhere.

Suggest something I should be doing. Help me, I need it.

Wasting my days

In the recent performance review, shitty manager gave bad review.  Though worked very hard the last whole year. Brought this to skips  notice, but he's not ready to hear what I have to say, just speaks what  manager has to say ( probably not to hamper his relationship with the  manager). This manager is very careless and has no idea what's going on  in the team.. Other colleagues who did less than equal to work as mine  got better rating than me due to their manager being good.   

Lost all hope and motivation to work. What should I do?? If I quit  now the market conditions are too bad. Did not learn anything much in  this shit company..

I had my performance review with my manager last week. The broad feedback was something like this- in her mind, if I'm given any task, she knows it will be done and done well, meeting all expectations. She acknowledged that I'm sincere, hard working and don't cut any corners with my work. But will the task be done ++, she wasn't sure.

I've been moving from fighting one fire to the other and never really got a chance to settle in one project, barring one, which my boss says I truly aced. Most of my colleagues believe I've done a stellar job and deserve the top rating but I didn't get that from my manager. 

My last 1:1 was almost 6 months back and all this time I never really got an indication that 'more' was expected. In fact when I was pulled into projects the only thing I was told was to 'look into this and resolve' without clear goals.

I understand this year reviews are tight at most startups but I was left wondering where this came from and what to make out of it. I'm due for another discussion next week.

Hi folks, I am a fronted developer with  5+ years of experience in TCS. I am doing well in my previous project but that is complete then I joined another project where I am struggling to do a smaller job as well. I am not sure what's going to happen to me every time I am the only person who always points out even if I make that mistake or not. Even though nothing motivated me, day by day my performance was going down I am feeling tired from this same time I am thinking about leaving the project and searching for something new but they are not releasing me. Due to this I visit the doctor and he says you are in depression and suggest some pills. Nothing motivates me here. Can anyone suggest to me what I do now.
