Hello everyone,
I am a Quant intern at a trading firm and Currently pursuing btech in Computer Science from one of the prestigious IIIT ,24 Batch. My 7th sem is going to start from next month. 

I am developing some algo's for market analysts and I think I am not learning any tech stack from this as these algo's are developed using some basic tool provided by the company. There are very less chances of PPO and even the timings are from 11am to 10pm. So due to these timings I don't get any time to prepare for other companies for oncampus placements.

I am writing this post to ask should I leave the company and prepare for on campus placements or continue working here.
As I can continue my intern during the sem coz there is no attandance criteria in my college.

Career Advice

Always wondered what does the work comprise exactly? Does one do maths all day or little coding with maths? Are the high paying jobs really that stressful? If we are looking to switch from SDE to quant roles, what to focus on? 
TIA.

P.S. From the OAs of some high-end quant roles it seems that they really get into the nitry gritty of a language like C++ and focus on lots of maths, and not much DSA. Do correct me if am wrong.

Hey guys,
So I'm a senior BTech CSE engineering student from a Tier 2 college in Karnataka and I will be interning at a Top MNC in Bangalore over the summer for 2 months. 

Any advice for me? As I will be entering the infamous corporate world as a new chapter in my life, I wanna know how the dynamics in corporate works and what I should prepare for.

Any advice for a student who will be joining his first company?

Was analysing my trades over the last 3 years to understand my best and worst trades ever, then coupled that with my "Trade Diary" to see what were the difference of thoughts between both trades. 

I was levered heavily on these F&O trades by holding a margin position. Made ~73k that day with a Capital at Risk/Trade under 25k at all times.

I have since left F&O, I have found better use of my time elsewhere and taxation on F&O income is not worth it anymore to me. 

What about you all? Any trades/lessons to share for all of us?

Queries for TCS Prime Interview

I know desk analyst from top 3 NITS have base of 18L , heard the same was about 24L for top 7 IITs. But these are for smallers firms like iRageCapital, Parker Wright. 

Read in news that firms like gavitron is paying 60L base, while this season Jane street took few students from IITK for 4cr in hong kong region. 

What about midsize firms like squarepoint capital, madison cube ?

Hi.

I'm a 9yr exp full stack engineer. Have done webdev mostly.
Currently earning around 30lpa
I want a job change because:
1. More money
2. Bored of webdev

I was looking around and HFT seemed interesting to me. I haven't done my full research on it, but from what little I have done, it seems like it is a very niche vertical requiring highly skilled folks and also we don't have HFT companies in India?

Anyways, I'm not fixated on HFT, that's just one avenue I explored.

I just want some better paying programming job where I can feel livelier. For eg., when I do complex DB queries for debugging and reports, or digging and parsing logs to find patterns and debugging, or optimizing some piece of code to squeeze more performance out of it.

I am fine with writing basic routine to make bucks but it's not fulfilling.

Please advise how to go about my career progression in a fulfilling way.

I have basic idea about what a quant developers do. But need a detailed roadmap from an experienced person and how much time does it take if i start from scratch?

I want to be a quant developer? What is the roadmap in india to become a quant dev?

I'm a Python developer with over 4 years of experience in data engineering, and I'm interested in transitioning into a High-Frequency Trading (HFT) company. 

Can someone who has successfully made this transition provide guidance or advice on the steps to take and resources to utilize?
