I'm an SWE with roughly 2 years of experience. At this point I believe my rate of learning has been strongly attenuated due to the lack of a mentor. Senior SWE's in the industry, what should I do? I want to increase my exposure. 
Having said that I am also completely unaware of the paradigm of a mentor and mentee. So if anyone can throw some light on that, it'd be really helpful.

I have been working for the past 7+ years in multiple domains and multiple technologies. My growth seems to be tapered off in the last 1.5-2 years. I'm looking for a mentor who has some good experience and can help me grow to the next level. I can pay if they need that and I respect that if they provide a good value.
I have mentored multiple engineers over the past 7 years but they all have been juniors. I haven't been able to find people who are really good and have more experience than me.

Its been 3 years working in tech for me. There has been so much learning thanks to the great peers i had the chance to work with but I have this constant feeling that there is much more to learn and I might not be using my time effectively. 

I know there are video courses or playlists on youtube but after a stressful day of work it become tedious to sit through another video just blabbering stuff which stops making sense post 5 minutes. 

How do software engineers continue their learning journey without being burdened? Is one on one mentoring useful for such cases if money can be used for sense of commitment?

All over LinkedIn when I see people thanking their mentors, I wonder where they get them.
I mean I hardly had any interactions with any of my college seniors. And don't get me started on my office colleagues. ( They always seem to be in a bad mood).
Coming to the point. I think having honest mentors can really help you fast track your developer career.
Let's try to help each other out.
I am a backend developer of 2 years. I can help you get 20 LPA.
I want someone who can help me earn 30 LPA.

Which one matters: Skills or Experience?

Experience, and further the insights comes with multiple 'years of experience' only. 
On the other hand, 'skills' can be learnt.

Who would you give preference to? I've been naive enough to think that what people with 10-20+ yoe is something that I can easily do. But nope, decision making is a completely different ball game. 

I got this thought when I came across youngsters charging money for 'mentorship' (PS: one off sessions, especially paid, is not how mentor-mentee relationship works).

If folks without proper experience is mentoring, what exactly are they sharing? 

How to get to where they are? 
What would it take for anyone to get somewhere further ahead (where they themselves haven't been)?
Just some 'skills' that mentees should get upskilled on?

Skills are required, but so is experience as well. As they say, it's not the tool but you use it that makes the difference!

So yes, what exactly are these young 'top mentors' talking about (or preching)?

Nuances: yes, one can talk about everything that they have gone through up until then. But in this case, everything would be short term and not really helpful.

One off sessions may work if it's just a Q&A or an AMA session. But that's not mentorship. 

Yes, time is money, and it's fine to charge for it. But is it really that they're valuing their time more, or the money?

I have no hate against platforms like Topmate. As a platform, they're good. It's just how we make use of it that is not great.


[I do mentor people. I just mentor 3-4 people, and has been doing that since 3-4 years). I have a few mentors as well. That has been going on since last 6+ years. None of those are paid. It's mutual respect and truly supporting others in their journey. 

I occasionally do the 'AMA or Q&A sessions + resume review as well'. Again free, but not under the disguise of 'mentorship'

Hey guys, so I have been interning at a company for the past 9 months. They have offered me a ppo and I will most likely accept it. But my interest lies in the ML field or some data fields such as data engineering. 
Can anyone advice me how do I go about it?
Like should go for masters(my undergrad degree is not CS or some pheonix branch). Should I learn on my own and keep giving interview. Or should I take some experience in sde and then switch?
