It has been close to 5 years that i have been working at this company, the work culture is so bad, overworked, work for more than 12 hours every day, even working on all Sunday’s, it has been 5 years almost and i have not got a chance to take a holiday, don’t get to take my wide out, boss messages about work without even looking at the day or time, micro management is killing it, should i continue to work? I don’t have another job offer in hand but i am completely burned out.

I have heard people talking about bad culture in a company. I just wanted to know what exactly they mean by not a good culture? Is it micro management or no WLB or something else. Please give some examples and if possible with the company's name.(saw in some recent post on GV that Groww does not a have a good culture. A more detailed example would be much helpful)

I quit my last organisation (a famous UPI company) in 2020 because, they still are in old technology. No cloud computing, no kubernates, no terraform. Their entire baremetal infra are in 2 DCs (Mumbai and Bangalore). Leadership ideas are outdated. I was very much bored and looking for a change.

Why did you resign?

Amount of effort i put and the salary i got was not proportional. 14 hrs to get 30k salary as a fresher. I had understood that I deserve better - thus i moved to get better pay and better wlb (which I got in swiggy)

me  on indisciplinary grounds. The manegement also cited that I've been quite notorious with taking a lot of leaves during my stint at this particular place and they aren't appreciative of that. They also mentioned that if they grant me a leave, it'll showcase that they are biased towards me and hence other employees will ask for leaves as well.

I'm really concerned and I am considering resigning given how the situation is. I have a lot of other issues with the firm and if I had to cite them, it'd be a 4000 word essay.

Currently, my manager, who also serves as the team lead, has been engaging in excessive micromanagement. They seem to be nitpicking and closely scrutinizing nearly every aspect of my work, which I find to be a very frustrating and stifling experience.

This level of micromanagement has made me feel uncomfortable and hindered my ability to work effectively. I am now considering changing jobs, as I believe this working environment is not conducive to my professional growth and development.

Given the challenges I'm facing with my manager's approach, I am wondering if it would be a good decision to seek employment elsewhere. I am contemplating this move in order to find a work environment that is better aligned with my needs and allows me to thrive as a software engineer.

Joined a product based Company two months back. Company culture is great. decent pay. good policies like insurance, cab, leaves etc.
But in the department I'm working at, the work is very Toxic.
It's minimum 9 hours everyday (continuous stretch). and what's surprising is stress and hectic work is normalised here. No one talks about. no signs of change as well.

I am working atleast 12 hours daily for the past couple of months and now i feel this is taking a toll on my mental health. Increment was pathetic variable is slashed and I don’t see any light at the end of this tunnel. What should i do in such a situation.

Any suggestions please. The fact that things have gotten so bad that i am now contemplating a change in career. IT sector seems good from outside with all the money and stuff but from inside its a dark dark place.

I need some suggestions what should i do? Should i leave or continue to work hoping that things might get better after a certain point of time?

Hi everyone , as the title mentioned i am getting tired with this corp culture. My managers are giving bullshit timelines for tasks and expects me to finish it. 
Now i know u guys gonna give me advice to switch on mncs but my friends at mnc are also saying same things. I am just really getting fed up . Its just been 2yrs for me. Expect salary i could never find anything good in it but i really dont see a long term career in this .

I feel a lot of insecurity about what if I lost my job.
I work in Analytics & data science in a well known Indian Bank.
Overall WOE is 8 yrs with 6 yrs in Analytics

Tier 1 Engg+MBA.

I would say after MBA i lost my way and hence behind my peers in career growth. This is mostly due to unsatisfactory work in the beginning leading to switches based on emotions and impulse, not patience.

Though my current job is stable and its been about 2.5 years in this role, it’s a bit stressful and honestly I don’t like the constant firefighting mode that we are in. I constantly put in 10-11 hrs on a daily basis with occasional work on weekends. This includes almost 3 hrs of meetings everyday, where a lot of redundant work requests come in and almost everytime they have to be delivered in next 1-2 days. Quality of work is not so great.

I tried applying but not getting decent calls. Only startups and Indian cos with high turnover reply to my applications. They too aren’t ready to discuss a decent hike.

I am really insecure about what will happen if I quit / laid off. I have gone through layoffs earlier in my career and believe me it’s a terrible experience, eats up all your savings. 

I tI tried a few sidegigs to build passive income source such as building a YouTube channel on travel, or a travel advisory app but couldn’t move much. App didn’t happen and YT channel didn’t get off after few months of hard work.


I currently am very demotivated and feel that i have not been able to grow in my career. Salary posts on grapevine add a lot more to my demotivation.

Current CTC is 27.

So, my boss is an absolutely lovely person, and is the best boss I've had so far. Not to brag, but I'm also the best performer in my team, by a mile. So, while I do get my pats on the back, I'm also rewarded with more and more work. I love, atleast so far, what I do, so I didn't mind taking up more work, because I learnt a lot in the process too, and it helped my hone my craft better.

Cut to now, I'm losing interest in work. Don't feel like taking up any new work, no matter how exciting the brief, or how great its potential.

I feel like I'm burnt out. And majorly demotivated.

What makes it worse is seeing this other member in my team chill the absolute fk out. He's hardly even given any important projects because of what a waste resource he is.

I've also just been promoted. So, I'm not sure if I should share what's on my mind with my boss.

My mind says I shouldn't, but my heart says it should be fine.

What should I do about:
1. Telling or not telling my boss what I'm going through (because I'm scared if it'll come back to bite my later)
2. Me feeling extremely burnt out and demotivated.

No, please dont in my opinion. Are you not taking leave’s? Please take leaves. 
  
 It might be contradictory on what i said but when it comes to bosses, it better not to talk about burning out and demotivated etc. 
  
 If you still want to do, sound as positive as you can be.  
 Boss sab ka bharosa nahi yaar.

I passed out from a tier 1 college in 2023. I am working in a product based company right now and currently serving notice period. Got offer from Zomato with a good hike. Was very excited. But saw some posts about work culture at zomato and thus a but worried. I left my current company because of mainly bad work culture. My manager here is very toxic and thus I am leaving. I have no problem about occasional long working hours but worried about  toxic work culture. Folks at zomato and others also, please help me out here.

Should I join zomato?

I have been employed at a service-based company for the past 2.6 years. Recently, I have been assigned to a new project with a different team. However, my manager has been quite demanding and insistent on my physical presence in the office. Additionally, they expect me to participate in video calls for every meeting and ask detailed questions about my work, often focusing on minor details. Unfortunately, the tasks I am currently working on no longer bring me excitement. Moreover, my manager's authoritative behavior is not something I appreciate. I am starting to wonder if I am experiencing burnout, as I have never encountered these issues before. Is this a normal situation, or should I consider seeking a new opportunity? Other than these work-related challenges, everything else seems to be going well.

Another year around and last year was dry with literally 0 percent hike. My salary not been increased for past two years and this year my hopes are going down. The PMS cycle was supposed to be on May 1st. We were supposed to get manager ratings. When I checked  it wasnt even case and they dont even communicate of such a delay. They just keep it closed doors and this is what I see as transparency. Already I have many exits voluntarily. When I was demanded for work day and night. they said company will reward people meritocritic and now when I turn them back and ask they arent even interested with sharing date on when the appraisal would come. What should I do I feel being cheated after 2 years of working day and night? Any news or this is going to be one another year of their sick promises and betrayals?

It has almost been 18 months since I have joined TCS. I was on the bench for a total of 5 months in the beginning, and finally got a project.

I went to the office and my manager told me that it would take few days for document verification and security clearance. I was coming to the office daily but had nothing to do. I was getting anxious since I was just watching Youtube videos for almost a month. I wanted WFH but when I asked they said I had to come to office even if I had no work.

Finally, I got a KT from someone working on the project. I came to realise that I was doing work that even a 9th class student can do. The problem? 5 people were doing this work.

The problem? I was working 30 minutes a day. I had to come early to the office, login using my seniors login creds and do timepass work. I have to send an email to our point of contact at the client side that the work is done at the end of the day.

I have learnt nothing here. I feel that these companies are just too inefficient. I am planning to leave ASAP now. I have learnt nothing and I am scared that I will not find another job because I have the Years of Experience but no skills. This is how IT companies destroy your career. Now I am doing DSA to get into another company.

I’m currently working in a support project and whatever I heard from my seniors and fellow guys at work is that nobody stays with this client and company for more than a year or two. I joined here as a fresher with some really good dev skills but the work and tech here is not allowing me to put them to use. I’m feeling like quitting from here, but again need to brush up my skills as I did not put them to use over a period of 14 months. Also there is a lot of micromanagement going on and I’m not comfortable with that. No one takes ownership of work and tries to push it to you and make you work on it.

After reading the recent #Amazon post and people being truly open about it. I'd like to highlight what me and my Myntra colleagues at the same level faced. The level of emotional and mental harassment I went through was extreme. 9-5 extending till 9am to 11pm, i.e 12+ hrs everyday with no incentives, often my manager would ask me to connect at 12:30 a.m. assign tasks and say, complete this atleast by morning. Even on days when we're in-office till 10:30 at night working on displays and whatnot, after completion they'd say now go home and work on concepts, which is insane, work when? Most often our weekends would get consumed in work too as there's always, always something urgent everyday to prevent you from taking offs. It wouldn't be coming off as a surprise if people are saying they haven't slept for 3 nights straight, because they'd say so have I. All that at a package of 5.35 LPA, it's ridiculous.

One thing I really hated during WFH days was MEETINGS DURING LUNCH/DINNER TIME, after a few weeks when it became repetitive, I started saying, but it didn't stop as they would smartly schedule those at pre-lunchtime so no one can deny as it's not lunch yet, then it'll stretch till 3 or 4. Then after a point I started bringing this up in mid conversation in meetings saying "Is it alright if we continue this post lunch? I need to go have lunch" and the same will happen during dinner. They'd say "go quickly have something and connect afterwards".

No appreciation for all the hardwork, sleepless nights. So, started keeping healthy boundaries, politely refusing to work on weekends, letting her know I've appointments or I'm cleaning my room or doing laundry today which they used as a way to gaslight me by saying "you disappear on weekends, what's wrong with you now, you used to work fine, seems like you don't want to work here anymore, please be there this weekend and do this". I was still committing to their 9-5 stretching till 8 evening tho.

Should I take up a job offer which offers me a peace of mind but not much of a hike or stay within the current organisation get the appraisal which is somewhat similar to the new offer. 

Early in my career the main reason I’m even considering the job offer is that the current organisation the work culture has gone to $#! . It’s basically working on favouritism, unrealistic targets and no work life balance at all.
