Should i take a pay cut

I have 2 options, either to take a 40% pay cut or leave the company (get laid off), what should I do? Would taking that high pay cut will lead to negative impact for my next employer? How does companies/hr takes this while hiring?

Im also on the same boat, based on current market don't leave the company , start looking out new company and ask your current employee give permanent WFH. And don't tell your next employee about pay cut. When you get the offer then they ask about pay slip. Told the situation. If they don't agree with your expectation. Simply copy past this dialogue : "Your company criteria to select an employee based on salary slip or their experience and how they do well in interview. If payslip is your criteria then i don't think so the company good fit for me " Trust me its work .

Thanks for sharing, I guess the companies have somewhat started realising these situations nowadays, but totally depends on their culture
